RSPCA have time and time again failed to do what the donating public expect them to, and there seems to be no realisitic way to hold them to account. This owner should have been prosecuted long before things got this bad - I wonder if we could approach the RCVS to put pressure on them - what do you reckon?

Where on Facebook is it - I could share it with all my contacts and get everyone to complain to or about RSPCA? And on that list of CEO email addresses there is one for the RSPCA - I'm going to send the link and ask for a comment.

I'm crying reading that.... that is truly dispicable that the RSPCA who have taken an oath to help all animals in neglect are doing just that.... Neglecting... shame on them!

Tragic. Those poor horses. If the RSPCA can't help these, then what's the point in them? I want to help and do something positive, but what can we do?

I have emailed the CEO M Watts (mwatts@rspca.org.uk) as follows:- Dear Mr Watts Ever since the scandal of Spindles Farm I have tried without success to voice my concerns about the lack of meaningful action by yourselves, the Royal Society for the PREVENTION of Cruelty to Animals. You seem to actively discourage our contact and feedback, even though your are funded by us, the animal loving British public. Now this acrobat.com/app.html#d=NrUvON1ADMMxOZzfVpEAug – how on earth can you justify to the donating public that your officers were allegedly aware of the situation and yet failed to prevent suffering on this appalling scale? I and most of the horse owning public of this country would welcome your comments. And your assurances that whatever failings led to this and the situation at Spindles Farm will never happen again and we will never find cruelty on this scale where the RSPCA have evidently known about it and yet failed to make a difference. I look forward to your response Yours sincerely Why don't you all do similar and bombard him with emails - help yourselves, just don't copy mine, it loses its impact if there are a lot the same. Either that or get RCVS to put pressure on to them to do the job properly or hand it over to WHW (along with a proportion of the funding and expertise in bringing court actions)

Good idea Jill Dear Mr Watts I am appalled and concerned to read today about the plight of the horses in the link below. How is it possible that these have been left in such a desperate situation despite being know to your charity? (if indeed that is the case). Is it true that 'Hope' was left in the 'care' of her owner despite being emaciated and collapsed? Many people donate to your charity with a view to saving animals from situations such as these. Yet it seems in this case a local veterinary practice stepped in as a last hope after the RSPCA had walked away. Could you please investigate this asap. Either the attached article has got the facts badly wrong, or there's something badly wrong at your end which needs addressing as a matter of urgency. If the latter be the case, then before replying to me, please put together a plan to save the remaining horses from the fate that seems inevitable unless you intervene. acrobat.com/app.html#d=NrUvON1ADMMxOZzfVpEAugRegards, Allison
