Guys can we not target the Government or our MPs to change and strengthen the Laws on animal cruelty or even HRH surely we can do something. I have had experience and watched horses suffer and then be put to sleep due to lack of care, both cases were on the SSPCA and the then ILPH books but they needed so much evidence before being able to act and allow the suffering to continue to prove the owner was negligent and not doing anything before they could act! It seems amazing that we know of cruelty but to prove an owner is negligent they have to allow the cruelty to continue and "watch" the animals before stepping in seems like insanity too me.
I put in another POST about my friend who took things into her own hands and didn't wait any longer for the RSPCA or WHW and removed the horses and took them to her place, she got away with it by the skin of her teeth and very kind policemen but she wouldn't do it again as she could have gone to jail - happy ending the horses survived but the SSPCA were annoyed as they then couldn't prosecute the owners. I'm not sure allowing horses or any other animal continued suffering whilst you look for the evidence for a court case is a good enough excuse to allow the suffering to continue!!! Repeating myself I know but its so frustrating.........as is spell check on this computer which doesn't work!!

Well slap in the face time guys...................it seems that the RSPCA is NOT going to prosecutute this piece of trash that masquerades as a human being, but they are 'going to work with him to ensure the ongoing health of the horses and they do not think anything will be gained by persuing him through the courts' thats the message we got this morning..............Vicky also agrees with this stance.................... sorry if it was me I would personally be making sure he was prosecuted................... sometime justice stinks!

That only relates to Hope, the mare that Vikki rescued, and not the remaining horss, according to Vikki's post no Facebook. Even so, our concern should be the horses - there was a case near Wrexham where a farmer was prosecuted and jailed and no-one thought about the livestock still on his land. Local residents kept their water supply topped up for as long as they could, but had to get the RSPCA back to take care of them. Better the owner gets off and the horses are cared for than he gets court appearance and the pitifully small punishment hhe can be given under the current legislation but the horses futures aren't assured. Hopefully we will get both and a court order to rehome the horses, but the court isn't free to do what it wants.

Maybe we misunderstood the message we were left, but I hope that he does not get off scot free at all

something gone wrong here. I am absolutely sure that if it was in my area there would have been a different result ( because I would have stood by the animal health officers desk until there was) and I can honestly say that I think our Animal Health officers are some of the best in the land
