;D ;D ;D mandal ...... join the club re the misgivings of the english language ........ we ALL know what WE mean when we post but what read is very often different ... and that without typos and spelling errors !!! Please do continue to post .... if we all gave up when we had not communicated exactly what we meant then this discussion board would be pretty empty I freely admit that I do voluntarily hang around Taz's rear end sometimes...... and giving her scratches in areas perhaps one should not mention for fear of mis interpretation . ........... and just in case ........... I do NOT advise anyone esle do this with any other horses

nope PP you got it just right ....... and I agree re the pleasure they get frmm it .... when you think of it they cannot scratch that part on anything like a bush (although Taz has certainly tried ) so we do perform a service unique to the human element of the partnership ;D

Phew - have just thread the whole thread, dosen't it twist and turn? Made me fair dizzy it did. I walk round the back and front of mine, never under the leadrope as have been hung on that before, usually have a hand on their butts but not always, can't say I consciously think every time to warn them where I am as I trust them both implicity, I have to, I have a daughter who wings around them constantly so manners, awareness and calmness is paramount to me.
Have to say thou that I have had two geldings previously who would do absolutely anything for a butt scratch, I regulary stood in the firing line to oblige them. And yes I do remember going underneath the belly of my old Boy several times without any qualms at all althou I would struggle with the two I have now as their bellies nearly touch the floor! Not much room for me under there! Having said that, friend has a beaut scar on her forehead from a head under belly scenario however she wasn't actually going underneath but merely picking out a front foot when a bot landed on his belly and he swiped up to get it just at the same time that she looked up! Ouch!

And have coldly just remembered! I used to sit underneath and behind my old Boys front legs on a cushion to trim his feathers! Could never get them to match unless i got right in the middle to trim them up, don't ever remember him moving or swatting at a fly in 20 yrs whilst I was under there and I did do them every single year twice a year so guess I fall into the 'dumbnut' category of foolishness? Hey Ho !!

First we have to make a bond with our horse. Establish trust. 2nd we respect them. 3rd we go inside their protection area. without knowing a horse I will not aproche to the horse,or thuching the horse butt. About the blindness horses use nose, ears, eyes,a blind horse will use his sense of hearing, thats how we can tell a horse is blind,he moves his ear which is on top of the blind eye rappidly and has no harmony with the other one. forgive me for the bad English.
