Ah, then I saw you dealing with the horse LJ, as I was at the demo too! Have to say, it`s one of the best I`ve been to and I attended several over the years.
Do you know if the trailer that the last horse was loaded on to was usually towed by the car it was attached to?
It was a tremendous evening; well worth travelling two hundred miles for!

Hi everyone This is my little bit about the Gleneagles one
.. Agree it was definitely one of the best Demo’s I’ve been to.. To my mind I thought it was less dramatic but more thoughtful … Monty and Kelly both seemed to be very keen to communicate that the demo was a means to show how working Intelligently with a non violent approach pays dividends …
Have to say I really think the audience really “got it” too.. at least judging by the applause and the high volume of book / dvd / halter / long line sales…
There were some very touching moments particularly Angle the coloured cob who was one of the difficult loaders..
As for Indian Summer who had been billed as “too dangerous” to ride by the “professionals” the owner had taken him to… His re-backing was very smooth and he seemed such a sweet horse it was quite hard to imagine what the “professionals” had been doing to provoke him.. he seemed a very very honest lovely chap. That was the really beauty of the demo.. that without equine histrionics Monty and Kelly demonstrated all the benefits of their approach. Even Duke (very tall Sport Horse) who was the other difficult loader the energy levels were really low.. especially considering this was a demo… Duke seemed to have developed a very arrogant attitude partly I’m sure due to his stature and obvious athleticism so it was very impressive to see him load and un-load not only into capacious lorry but also into and thro a standard double horse trailer which he managed to make look very very diminutive. Duke finally showed he could be as cool as cucumber about both the lorry and trailer tho he was entirely capable of jumping right over Monty .. Monty’s body language had been absolutely key to preventing Duke from bolting or simply jumping off the top of the lorry ramp to begin with.
I also loved the members demo with the chestnut mare desensitising it with first with stick then stick with plastic bags and then introducing the clippers … it really showed the “method” very very clearly and was beautifully explained too..
The wonderful thing about this demo was the clear illustration and explanation of the systematic processes used by IH.. breaking everything down into clear and small steps. It was a more enabling demo than I feel others that I’ve been to were.
PS did anyone on here come and talk to me about a “Heidi Buck” (I’m sorry I didn’t recognise you but was slightly distracted by a burgeoning cue for IH goodies ….) ?

Another brilliant demo
FIRST Flash - Starter with IHK Flash is a youngster and was brought straight out of the field. Kelly schooled Flash first then she done Join-Up, IHK went on to work on the areas where girth, saddle would be fitted. IHK introduced the roller to Flash then fitted the roller on him, Kelly unclipped the line and sent Flash round the pen so Flash could get the feeling of something on him, Kelly done Join-Up once again with no problem. Kelly attached 2 long lines and then long reined Flash round the pen on both reins.
SECOND Fugly - Starter with MONTY Monty loose schooled Fugly to begin the process of Join-Up. Fugly joined up with Monty with no fuss, Fugly got introduced to the saddle, fugly didn't seem bothered.Monty placed the saddle into place and done up the girth. Fugly standing there like a statue. Monty unclipped the line and sent Fugly away with a few circles of bucks but soon got the feeling of the saddle. Monty then done join-up. Monty attached 2 long lines and tried to get Fugly to move but he didn't want to move, Monty then got him moving and was soon long reining round the pen on both reins. Rider then put his belt buckle on the saddle a few times, Fugly was well relaxed and then the rider got in the saddle and was then riding round the pen. Monty finished on a good note with Fugly with finishing of doing join-up.
THIRD Timmy - Bucker with MONTY Monty loose schooled Timmy to begin the process pf Join-Up, Timmy was breathing heavy and was unsettled Monty had seen all the signs to allow Timmy to Join-Up. Monty fitted the buck-stopper and then placed the saddle on and done up the girth, the buck-stopper then was attached to the saddle. Monty unclipped the line and sent him away. Timmy tried to buck but instantly the buck-stopper stopped Timmy bucking, Monty kept Timmy moving with Timmy trying to buck but the buck-stopper stopped him. Timmy was schooling at this point without trying to buck so Monty allowed Timmy to Join-Up. Heidi (dummy) got placed in the saddle but Timmy refused for Heidi to be in the saddle and jumped forward, Heidi got put straight back in the saddle and got her strapped on. Monty unclipped the line Timmy bucked but the buck-stopper prevented Timmy from bucking. Monty kept Timmy schooling and soon Timmy accepted Heidi., Monty done join-up and then long reined Timmy with no problem. Heidi dismounted and got put up and down on the saddle a few times for the real rider. Adrien got leg up into saddle and Monty let Timmy loose, Timmy walked and trotted on both reins round the pen.
FOURTH Harry - Loader with IHK Kelly went to work with Harry on a wooden bridge and was not fazed by it, Kelly then went to work on the trailer, Harry would walk over the ramp but not up the ramp Kelly worked on this until Harry walked up the ramp and through the trailer and out of the side ramp. Kelly went to load harry again and refused and walked across the ramp again Kelly worked on this and Harry decided it was much easier to not fight but just to load into the trailer.
FIFTH Remy - Loader with MONTY Monty went to work with Remy on the wooden bridge and Remy walked over it with no fuss. Monty then went to work on the lorry with Remy, Remy was reluctant to go up the ramp. Monty schooled Remy but still was reluctant to walk up the ramp. We closed the pen frames and Remy walked up the ramp. We opened the frames up and Monty went to load Remy again but was reluctant again to load. We closed the frames and Remy walked up the ramp. Monty then went to work loading and unloading Remy until the frames were fully open. Kelly held Remy at the bottom of the ramp while Monty went in the lorry and Remy went straight in the lorry. At the end Monty unclipped the line from Remy and he walked up the ramp..

Sounds like the gleneagles one was fab, I was meant to be there but the girl who I was going with (and getting a lift there and back off of ) cancelled at the last minute Will hopefully be there next year! Just out of interest, how old do the helpers have to be? Also does anyone have any photos/videos from the gleneagles night? Indian summer belongs to a lady who used to be at our yard, Indian summer was not kept there though as he is a stallion and I've never actually got to see a picture of him. My mate has put her mare in foal to him, would be nice to see what he looks like!
