ok - i have long black (stiff!) leather boots white jodphurs shirt tie navy hacking jacket hat with navy cover black GP - numnah or no numnah? bridle - english leather cavesson or double bridle? he is going in over 148cms and it is a cherif qualifier. he has just turned 5, i have a double bridle but have never ridden him in it, would i be ok using a normal cavesson bridle? does the above sound ok? going to start working on my individual show soon toni xx

Normal cavesson bridle is fine.
No numnah unless it is very small (saddle shaped) and plain.
Gloves and matching leather cane.
Horse plaited and pulled as he is PBA.
Beige jodphurs would be better than white but should be ok. Ditto for the jacket - tweed is better but blue should be ok.

A double looks nice but i'd stick with what he's used to, at his age I'd say it's too young to be wearing a double anyway. Only thing i'd suggest is that you wear canary or beige breeches instead of white. I'd go with no numnah if you can get away with it, otherwise a discreet one to match colour of saddle could be used.

"Ditto for the jacket - tweed is better but blue should be ok. "
I thought that for PBA classes a black/navy jacket is correct?

I think tweed is preferable.

Oh! I'm wrong!
I've worn tweed and never had a problem though. Saw both @ the county show last year.

A.H. his mane looks thin enough to do with a shortening blade-----cheaper than a Solo. It's like a penknife with a toothedge with a blade at the top of the teeth. You just backcomb a bit then bring the blade downwards and cut it at the required length. It's easy, and looks pulled if you do it carefully bit by bit. He will look million dollars with a short mane you see ;D

It has to be shortened dry, and it should be short enough to plait with small neat plaits ,4 to 5 inches. You cannot go in the ring at a County Show with a mane like that, he is not a pure bred, and he will look sooooooooo much better with a short neat mane. You see, it will alter his whole appearance. Don't forget to shorten his tail and pull that as well.------You can plait it, but again, if you are going to take this seriously, pulling is correct. Feathers off and ears neatly trimmed round the edge. ;D
