I've watched him work his horses behind the scenes many times at HOYS He is just amazing and never ceases to make me cry. The love and communication between him and his horses is inspiring and very humbling. To have one horse in the Grand Finale' on the Sunday night is traumatic enough be it a show horse or a show jumper or even a Prince Philip pony. He takes all his in LOOSE and they stand like rocks -------------just astonishing

While I agree that what he has trained his horses to do is very impressive, I don't like the body language of his horses at all.

nor did I Varkie - they all had their ears back most of the time - and at one point looked like they were going to bite him when doing that tight circle around him. Wasn't impressed I'm afraid

I've just watched this and agree the way he can get his horse's to perform is amazing but they all seem quite anxious and stressy.

OK if these horses are stressed, can anyone tell me just HOW he gets them to perform as they do ?? As I said I have seen him work behind the scenes, many many times and I can assure you there is no stress involved, only ultimate communication. During parts of the act the horse is supposed to look cross with him , and then it mellows and smiles and accepts him . Can anyone here teach their horses to behave like that ?? I very much doubt it. For Heavens sake is it sooo very hard to give credit where credit's due and admit to the fact that most of us would give anything to have his gift ?

Want to see a guy who lays foals down and beats them and says they all have to learn that while they're young. If butterfly, cowgirl or Monterey Pine come on here, they'll tell you all about going on his courses!
Might explain the anxious and stressy bits, wouldn't you put your ears back and want to bite him!

Maybe the hyped up atmosphere and indoor ring. They most certainly didn't show any signs of stress in the outdoor ring at Lowther. The rapport between him and his horses was amazing to watch. Those waiting their turn couldn't wait to join him. Wish I had any where near his ability.
