Poor thing! At least she is with you now! I hope she makes a speedy recovery and has a full and happy life. Pebbles was also a meat pony so i know how heart wrenching it is, good luck with her.

Thanks so much for checking her out.. and even more so for giveing her a great second chance.. I so look forward to see ing her recover and become even more of a Beauty then she is.. strangely the dealer said about how he would only steal a better horse... sadly that isnt the case for some.. it makes you do wonder why he made that remark.. but you have checker her out as much as you can till the microchip history is established.. on that note a horse was recently rescued from a lake by Herts Fireservice and when the vet checked it over it had a microchip but registered to someone in France.. it wasnt much help to establish ownership.. but Beauties might uncover some history..
We all look forward to the Tales of Beauty the rescue..

Blubbing like a 5-year-old at this.
Fantastic.... look forward to reading all about it as the story unfolds.

She certainly looks like she could have been a polo pony, but she can't have been one for some time as her mane is long and polo ponies are hogged. It would take a couple of years for the mane to get that long after hogging. If she was a polo pony, she'll be extremely polite and well behaved, her personality will come out with some TLC and she'll be a lovely horse to have around.

She is a little tall for polo I think - nearly 16hh I think, but it's hard to tell when her body has fallen away from her spine so much. I called the polo club that issued her passport. She was registered with them in 2005, so presumably she was playing polo 4 years ago or less. She is 20 now according to her passport. Shari checked her teeth and confirmed she is at least 17 (which upset the dealer who was trying to tell me the passprt was wrong and that she is really 9! lol!. It seems a little odd that she was playing polo at 16. Isn't that a bit old for polo? (I don't know much about polo.)
It really has been lovely reading everyone's responses. It's wonderful that she is touching so many people. I am very appreciative of all the support too. I know some people think I am crazy, not thinking straight, not being practical....and have heard and felt a bit from people in my off-line life. They should all know me by now though and if they don't, well...they will know me a bit better now. I've had a tough couple of years with a series of bereavements and challenges and am now beyond caring about what people think of me who don't understand what's important - I just did what I had to! I know many here would have done the same. It's so lovely to have so much support and feel the love and caring in so many horsey people.
It's my birthday today, so all the lovely support, the wonderful saving of Beauty and now a couple of hot toddies have me all warm and fuzzy!

Polo ponies are anything from 14.2 to 16.1. The most usual height is 15.1 or 15.2. Yes, many play well into their teens or even 20s. It just depends on the level. We've got a couple in their 20s still playing slow stuff and still enthusiastic about it. It's the Hurlingham Polo Association which issues passports. They aren't a club but the polo governing body. Any idea who owned her?

She looks so very exhausted in the first lot of photos. Good luck with her. With her snotty nose be pretty careful about hand hygiene before touchin your others. Well done for giving an older lady some dignity.

Been reading all this since yesterday but hadn't got round to posting. Wonderful story, but what I like best was your first line:
"I woke up yesterday knowing I had to go to Beaulieu Road Pony sales"
'Someone' sent you a message and you listened. Too few of us listen to our intuition/gut feeling/ spirit guide or whatever you like to call it, but if we do then things always turn out right because we are following the path we are supposed to be following. Good for you, good for Beauty and also for Shari & Becky. And belated Birthday greetings. X

Oh Caroline, don't listen to anyone who questions your sense...it is your 'sense' that got you to the sales in the first place. You did what you had to do because that's who you are - and thank goodness for you!!! Even though we can't save them all, i love what you said about 'saving a few between us.' Something happens to the human spirit when somebody rescues a horse and starts to heal it and this thread is testomony to that. And i reckon it has a good knock on effect and connects us, makes us all stronger in the face of abuse.
Beauty is exactly that! Sending you and Shari and Becky lots of love and beauty loads more still!
P.S. There is a beautifully placed dust partical floating in Shari's magic tree....hmmm...or is it?? It's not completely round so...well...wouldn't it just be lovely if it was a big ball of love and healing....sorry.... I know i'm an old whimsical hippy.....whatever it is, dust partical or orb, it completes the picture!! x
