What a lucky girl, so pleased for her. My friends went to the previous sales and ended up bringing back a 24yr old New Forest in very poor condition. Lee was actually in tears when he saw her, what a softy I also heard from other friends that the handling of the ponies going in to the ring was appalling. When people contacted the Livestock Association they either just ignored our complaints or dismissed them, basically calling them liars Why are they allowed to get away with it?? It infuriates me, it really does. They also denied that any ponies at the sales go to the meat man Do they think people are that thick??!

Well done - no there is no sense in doing what you have done but it is not sense that makes us do the kindest things for no gain it's compassion and love. I am sure she will do you proud.

Well done and I really hope Beauty has happy healthy years to come xx this is one of the reasons we are saving for some land ourselves...so glad there are people like you as we can make a difference even if small...just don't like to think of how many did lose their lives yesterday and everyday due to the cruelty of some nasty humans...

She will live out her life in love and she has you to thank for it. Just had to ask as well is that your Bow top caravan and Teepee in the background, I have always wanted both? I totally agree - well done you and the time and love will not be wasted, even if they happen to be short. She will teach you something, and you her. Time does not matter.

Sending healing thoughts for Beauty ((((((()))))))) Hi indigo The tipi and bowtop belong to my friend Jean (known as Tipi Jean or Jean Morningstar). She used to live in the field with my horses and the gorgeous cob, Merlin, who used to pull the bowtop on their travels. She was one of the original Rainbow Circle who started the Glastonbury festival all those years back, long before it became the commercial music festical it is today. That wagon has been on site at Glastonbury many years, pulled onsite by the lovely Merlin (who sadly died a little while ago). So the bowtop and tipi were in the field with my horses for quite a few years, until Jean went to France and then Merlin died, due to tick fever. Many thanks for your kind thoughts and good wishes for Beauty. She is doing well today. Shari tells me that Beauty is a bit spaced out, but settling in and beginning to happily come up to people. She is developing trust and realising that no-one wants anything of her. She is eating and drinking well and showing interest in the other horses over the fence. She is even tarting with a gelding and showing signs of coming into season. Amazing! I'll go see her tomorrow and get some photo updates. A lovely lady who also saw her at the sales is donating some rugs for her, which Shari will be picking up tomorrow too. (At the moment she is wearing an old rug that belonged to Shari's old mare before she died.)

Hiya well done so heart warming, to know that Beauty is safe, makes me think of all the others who aren't so lucky though... i had a similar thing happen to me in may! exact same story...tied to lorry...thin...gentle natured and had been reserved by the meat man round the back of york sales. he's a lovely little palomino, his teeth were in such a state and his back legs and tail were caked in mess, his passport had been damaged where the old owners address is so i got in touch with passport people who sent me a duplicate, just writing to original owner as the dealer told me he used to be a beach pony. you can see his pics and story on www.hopepastures.org inder 'meet the residents' named Sparky. anything you need-rugs, headcollars, we have lots put aside for rescue horses, good ones that are clean etc so just pm me if you need anything! all the best with her, it was meant to be x sophie x

That's very kind Sophie, thank you. I think we have everything we need at the moment, but I'll get back to you if I may if any need does arise.
It was lovely to see Sparky's pictures - an amazing transformation! It really gave me hope for Beauty's recovery, so thank you for sharing that - it's truly encouraging!
It really has moved me - all the beautiful notes of support, encouragement and help. Thank you so much to everyone. It makes me almost as emotional as Beauty has made me.
I don't know if others have noticed, but I have felt the world has got increasingly crazy and hostile in the last couple of years. I was beginning to give up on mankind entirely - but the compassion and love shown by all here has restored faith in me too. What an amazing effect this poor old mare has had on us all!
