The only thing that they do if they are cold is use stored fat to create body heat - not what you want when you are still trying to get condition on her. But I don't think she would be standing huddled in a corner rubbing and blowing on her hands to keep them warm!! You are right about overheating though, years ago a vet said to me that they are better too cold than too hot - if they are cold they can move to generate heat, or burn calories, not so easy for them to lose heat.

How's Beauty doing Caroline?? I hope you've got a good idea of the cause of her lameness and she's improving.

She is all better now, thank you! I think she hurt herself hooning around when the other horses left the park. A few days after osteopathy, she was right as rain. A couple of days ago, I pulled up outside my house in the car, just in time to see her go tearing off with the horse in the next field, turning on a sixpence and stopping on a dime. Apparently, just before I got home, she had been cantering around, playing like a foal, rearing and pawing the air! Wish I had seen that! (Although my heart would probably have been in my mouth - I wish she would take it a bit more easy!) So I think it is fair to say she is over her lameness now

Yes I saw on your other thread she was fine now! It must be so great to see her hooning around even if a bit nerve racking.
