That is by far the cutest story I ever heard. Well done Caroline. I can never go to a sale ever again because I know i'd end up doing the same as you. Beauty looks great, I hope you have a good time together

Well done Caroline - at least Beauty will be ok.
Yesterday met my friend's new boy that she bought off some bloke at Beaulieu Road sales 3-4 weeks ago. Again tied to a lorry looking like a hat rack - she showed us the pics on the day she bought him.
3-4 weeks on he's still a little thin, but mainly as he needs to build up more muscle, but he's a beautiful gentle boy.
Hopefully Beauty will recover physically before too long, though I think the psychological damage will take longer - but luckily she's in good hands

cinnypony - did your friend get photos of her boy tied to the lorry at Beaulieu Road? I wonder if it was the same dealer. A lady who had a stall at the sales came up and told us that the dealer had been banned from the sales.
I wonder if this guy makes a habit/business of selling horses in this condition.

Unfortunatley there will always be some nasty person trying to profit out of these noble creatures just as well there is people like you out there to help. I can't go to sale rings as I know I would end up with a field full! and I can never sell them!
Good luck with beauty

He is a lovely section D bay and he was tied to a green lorry. She reckons he was sedated at the sales as he's quite sharp now, but luckily v good natured. She has been tracking down information about him, but is also v happy with him.

Just caught up with this thread and can admit to sitting here with tears in my eyes. What an amazing thing you have done. The relief in her eyes as the photos show her at yours and then at your friends is evident for all to see.
You are an inspiration to us all. I wish you every success with her recovery and will watch her story with great interest.
Welcome 'home' Beauty. This is the start of the rest of your life. Bless you sweetheart.

I went to see her yesterday. Having spent the day before quite spaced out, she seemed brighter yesterday. Her reluctance to be caught seems to have gone. She came straight over and met by by the fence. I went in and we had a lovely cuddle. She stood there for ages with me whilst I cuddled, stroked, massaged and gave her love and healing. She didn't even walk away after, when I took more photos (the full body ones of her looking forwards). I think she has gained a little weight. Being rugged has meant that her coat now lies more flat, so is more shiney and smooth. She is so soft to touch! I have taken a huge number of photos, here are some... rescuepet.org/images/stories/beauty/DSCF1982_800.jpg [/img] She has a big indentation at the base of her neck - maybe a lasso injury? Rainscald on her back - the grease is the marigold balm Look who has a mane! All nicely untangled now Looks all golden in the light... After a cuddle Watching deer Looks like her ear got twitched at some point Neck so skinny More leg wounds Sascha (my dog!), Beauty and I Hay!

I don't think it is Lasso injury. Thay looks like Azlan's scar. With that and thescarring on her head etc I think she has been seriously injured on a barbed wire fence at some time

She has a long way to go, but once she starts getting some front she will not only look faantastic but you will know she is out of the woods. Lovely old girl, what a shame for her to have got in that stae - can't people see the beauty they are turning to ugliness by not caring enough? She will be really really stunning again soon. The indentation in her neck might be an old tracheotomy BTW.
