Jill, the indent is in the right place, and if she was an ex racer it's a common thing, but I was thinking with the combination of the scars on her face.... Azlan's indent is deeper than that, but he was very young when he had his accident, and the muscle removed won't regenerate

Difficult to tell without feeling the shape and depth of the "hole" jackiedo, it could be either, I did wonder whether it was a bit low down for a tracheotomy scar but it is difficult to see really.

The indent could be a bite? Concer has one like that - he had no horse-skills at all when he came out of racing and didn't heed the warning signs of the boss and got bitten badly. As for the wounds near her hocks they could be from rolling on hard ground - Conc also has those as there's been no rain here to speak of for months now and the ground is like concrete.....
She's beautiful now and once she gets a 'proper' neck to match her noble head and those ribs get covered a bit she'll be a stunner!!! ;D Looking forward to following her story.

bless her - I am sure once she starts getting a bit more condition she is going to look miles better - she is a pretty lady tho, Gou used to get sores on his hips when he was a skin and bone man - ince they get a bit more covering it soon stops.

She has the most beautiful face, she looks like she quietly knows that she's safe.

She is gorgeous and it's lovely to see more pics of her, thankyou Caroline. The white flecks on her ear may not be anything awful though, if they were due to 'twitching' injury wouldn't ther be scar tissie able to be felt under the flecks?? Bracken has a white slash on his near fore and the Chiro who examined him said it was just a marking as there was no evidence of scaring underneath it. Two of my other have small white flecks near their ears too.

Lovely to see her beginning to look better in your care. Another here who hopes she continues to do well after what looks to have been an eventful life.
Can I ask whether the RSPCA did indeed take an interest in the seller as to her condition when you bought her?
Just wondering whether she was seen to be in his care in such a poor state for sufficiently long before you took her away for something to be done to benefit the other equines who are undoubtedly going to be bought and sold by him.
Apologies if I've missed this being covered elsewhere in the above.

She's already looking better, Caroline. She is a very pretty horse and I agree, she'll be stunning once she muscles up a bit.
