Caroline.... you are a STAR! Simple as that.
Beauty must think that she's found her guardian angel.
I can't wait to see what she looks like in a few months.
Much love,
Catherine. x x

Oh god bless her you can almost feel the relief coming through the photos!!
well done Caroline - she certainly has that TB look about her. The good thing is its amazing how quickly they do come right with a bit of TLC - when Gou first arrived I thought he was going to drop down dead of exhaustion but after just 2/3 days he picked up amazingly well - I'm sure beauty will do the same.
well done again!

My word - Beauty had a long and hard road to get to you but finally her world has changed for good. I hope she has a good recovery and that you've found a real gem. How CAN people let their horss get like that? She looks a real good sort - good luck to you all

Many thanks to ALL for all the lovely comments.
She's just gorgeous. She doesn't really want to be caught at the moment (who can blame her?!) but when she does come, she is so sweet and gentle whilst being handled. I want to give her the biggest cuddle, but I feel it's maybe too much for her right now, so gentle strokes is all for now.
She is 20 years old according to her passport. She is an Argentine polo pony and her passport was issued by a polo club. I called them to let them know what happened to her and to check she wasn't stolen. They have no record of her being stolen. I also checked the register - no brown thoroughbred mares reported. Even the bays didn't match her description. Will be following up her microchip next.
To be honest, I don't think she is stolen. I think she is a horse that hit the end of the pillar-to-post line and I just got lucky to catch her before the final stop. The dealer himself said "If I wanted to steal a horse, I'd steal a good one". Got to love his sales technique...lol!
I don't have any plans for her other than to get her well and keep her safe. I know she's old and I've already been told by some people I am totally daft. One guy said "You'll have to dig a hole for her in 2 years!". I accept whatever will come - I just want to give her some good time, some love and get her well again. I've worked in rescue a long time and been with horses that we have only got into rescue for a day or so before they died. It obviously breaks my heart each time, but the way I look on it is that I would rather they die knowing a bit of love and care at the end. We have managed to do that in just the last 48 hours, so every day's a bonus. I couldn't stop thinking that she was due to die at 10a.m. on Friday 4th September - and have been counting the extra hours she has had so far.
I have a feeling (and major hope and prayer!) that she will make a good recovery and surprise us all. I'll put her photos and diary on my usual horse blog (address in sig). Haven't put any on there yet and am off to the feed shop to get her some food, seaweed, garlic and vetwrap!
One last thing...
When the dealer handed over her rope to Becky when he unloaded Beauty, Becky later told me that Beauty noticeably lit up. Becky said it lit her up too, in a way she had never experienced before. Becky is only 16, although she looks older. It's been lovely to see what a positive effect Beauty has had on a young girl already. Becky's really gorgeous and has amazingly spot-on values (well to my way of thinking!) for a young girl , but I think Beauty is giving her a wonderful new light and really validating those values. A new rescuer is born...

I totally agree that even of for a few hours, if we ccan show these poor horses love at the end then at least it is better than dying unloved and uncared for. I think the Brooke hospital have the same policies, where they nurse the horses/donkeys and treat them with love, care and diginity for 24 hours before they are pts (if they are needed to be)
