I dont believe it - highly respected Animal Health Trust Vet, Dr Sue Dyson states in H and H today 'There is little hard evidence to show there is anything wrong with rollkur if it is done well'. Thanks a bunch, that really helps the cause, especially as she is something of a specialist in equine orthopaedics. Heather

Just to confirm the article in YH is anti-Rollkur . Although it's careful to present a balanced argument, there's some long anti-Rollkur quotes from Sylvia Lock. The article ends: "we implore the FEI to take a long, hard look at where the sport is heading and remind themselves of the founding principles of dressage riding"

Yet more evidence of airway (breathing) obstruction on inhalation due to the collapse of the trachea when the poll is flexed!!! This is trotting horses wearing check reins on a treadmill. scienceofmotion.com/documents/equine_sports_medicine_and_genetics_news.htmlI just cannot understand why this alone isn't enough evidence to stop any training where the horses head goes past vertical! There appears to be some degree (50% in another study ) of obstruction even at vertical!!!!!

Mind you when you see the neck near horizontal and the horses chin on its chest ......grrr.

I've reposted it but I got it off Heather's Facebook group so perhaps that's why it wont work! I do think the angle of the neck is relevant as it makes the angle at the poll more acute if the neck is very flexed too doesn't it? The artical I got the 50% from I cannot link anymore for some reason I can only get an interview with one of the authors and Mark Mottishead on Dressage disgrace. Just checked Amanda and the link works for me.
