No need for 'eeeek' Kelly! I thought that at Hoplands you achieved all the things you listed in OP. There's definitely a more interactive/explanatory element than at Monty's demos (not that I'm saying one is better)... You mentioned a polo pony that may have been the starter - are you allowed to say why she wasn't used or is that confidential?? Sarah x

At the demo I think I heard Kelly say that she wasn't as strong as the coloured horse - perhaps not quite ready? She went on to say that during the afternoon they had got that horse as far as putting a roller on her and long reining her in that. She was certainly a very nice horse.

What a fantastic night Kelly - well done to you and the team. I thought everything was explained very well and even though I was at an advantage having been to the 5 day course I still picked up loads. It was great to hear people around me picking up ideas too. It was a fab idea to have the barefoot trimmer there too - I had a great chat with him and will be getting him out to see my lot soon.
The starter was a fab one for the demo. He was tricky wasn't he - he kept trying to come in and then when you did ask him to he stood there - so it showed how to deal with different types of horses in a join up.
I really think the ground work you all showed will help people in a big way - especially seeing the young lad lead his 'strong' pony around so easily. Lovely evening and I can't wait until the next one?!?!?

Many thanks to DG helpers - Teeni and Galaxy, Mirandasophie, RAs Sarah Weston and Zoe Chipman who worked on the loaders with me - really appreciate your help. Lovely to see DG charity organiser Lorraine Luke at Plumpton who gave me some helpful feedback. Today's Monday and we're all having a day off (well did get back at 3am) Pie and Caesar just had their backs checked and massage - will just have an hour or so in the field if it's not tipping down too much - the thing with travelling (I feel) is it's better to keep to a general routine so not so much turn out at this time as it's not possible on demo days, so their digestion gets used to this way of life (constant hay and lead outs of course) and then back to normal in a week or so. I've really enjoyed the demos so far and so lovely meeting up with old friends. There are a couple of things that I've thought (in hindsight of course) 'I could have done that better' - one being the spooky horse at Plumpton - I've just seen BJs thread about despooking to umbrellas and I started with him and then when he was ridden I forgot to bring the brolly out again and I know he'd have been perfect - blast! Especially as BJ was in the front row - she should have reminded me! Re. the polo pony at Hoplands - she was a little weak (even though 4 I think) but also the teeniest bit foot sore - really tiny. I think we'd have gone for the tougher stronger horse anyway to be honest and just to thank the owners I put a roller on her (without doing Join Up and just with some leading exercises) in the afternoon. Got a wonderful loader in the end for Willow Farm - who arrived as the demo started after working for ages, someone had told them to put him down - he was 'mad' - he was just delightful - after RA Suzanne Marshall had done some ground work (great getting these RAs to do all the proper work so I can just step in a look good ) he just gingerly stepped up into the trailer with me and then continued beautifully - owner was blown away - ahhhh. So looking forward to next 3 demos now where of course with the warm up we've now had we shall all be completely PERFECT (hmmmm) Kx

Well I know I'll be at Shuttleworth with a fellow livery (also an IH member) so that's another 2 to add to the list . Just have to remember to wear thermals and pack a stable rug I suppose - and it's almost June Looking forward to seeing everyone and being enthralled on Friday

Brilliant evening at Plumpton Kelly. I am sure that the rest of the demo's will be an inspiration to everyone. Bob is still getting over the ' Is that Bob who Lorraine has bought with her ' LOL In fact, i am still laughing about it now. ( We all knew that it was just his name that you were checking on ) ... Good luck with the rest of the dates.

I would just like to say a big thankyou to Kelly and her lovely team for making my son Josh feel so welcome and at ease on Friday night at Hoplands. I took him and his pony Misty to do a little groundwork demo with RA Lynn Chapman. Misty, who turned 4 today can often have her own agenda a Josh who is 12 handled her and all the eyes on him beautifully! And a massive thankyou to Lynn who continues to pass on her knowledge to us which Josh is soaking up like a sponge!!

Both Hoplands and Plumpton were great Kelly
But I defo got a bigger buzz out of Plumpton. It was a huge privilege to be trusted with not only the ground work leading up to one of your loading horses, but also with the actual loading of her! Especially as I was loading her to the accompaniment of a local firework display that started up when I had just got her to the crucial bit ;D
I don't know how you do this demo thing night after night though m'dear - I am still pooped through lack of sleep
