He has had a couple of days were he has been a bit 'off' but no-one on my yard thought he was! Either I'm imaging it or I'm getting more atune to how he us feeling. I am having a problem with the Mycosorb, he won't touch it! Has anyone else had this problem? you are getting more tuned in. You end up getting VERY tuned in. In the end you think you are going mad as you see things others don't but they really are there. I put 10 on mycosorb. Nine thought it was great, number ten was Rupert who has, I believe identical problems to yours. He was the one that really mattered and wouldn't touch it. I mixed it into the feed with a bit (about a desertspoon) of liquid molasses for about a week. By then I had increased the mycosorb to a full dose and started reducing the molasses and now he eats myco in an ordinary feed. Molasses are not good for horses with gut problems but for Rupert it was more important to get him on the myco and accept it wasn't going to do the gut any good for a few days.

Thought I'd post a quick update, I've been keeping him off the grass as much as possible and he has completed the loading dose of succeed - so far so good. He has had a couple of days were he has been a bit 'off' but no-one on my yard thought he was! Either I'm imaging it or I'm getting more atune to how he us feeling. I am having a problem with the Mycosorb, he won't touch it! Has anyone else had this problem? Yes!! First time I gave it to Lucas I put his bucket down and walked away. 5 seconds later there was a huge commotion and Lucas came running towards me, snorting and smacking his lips with a look of complete horror on his face! He completely refused to touch it, even though it was only a half dose. Next feed I just put in a tiny amount - about a quarter of the recommended minimum dose. I also put it in at the last minute rather than when I mixed the feed to soak (I feed soaked grass nuts and copra). He ate this, with a bit of snorting and lip-smacking. I kept it at that level for a few days and then slowly increased it to the full dose and he was fine about it. The other two didn't like it much either but they were less expressive about it! One day about a week into the Mycosorb my hubbie fed the horses one morning and he accidentally used the wrong scoop: it turned out he'd given Lucas FIVE times the normal amount but he ate it all up without objecting, so they do get used to the taste. They've been on it for about 3 weeks now and they're eating it happily. Re no-one else noticing - believe yourself, I'd be prepared to bet you're right . You know your own horse best, and if you think he is a bit 'off' then he probably is. It was one of my biggest lessons with Lucas: I had lots of more experienced people trying to help me with him and often they'd try to convince me he was fine when I knew in my heart that he wasn't. Eventually I learned to trust this instinct and it has been very helpful - more than that, it could be life-saver with a horse that can be dangerously explosive when he's not OK.
