Sounds like a good solution and one which would enable long term members to keep in touch - thank you!
I do wonder if one thing has been missed out though - there are a few threads on here about riding, and many RAs don't specialise in this area. There are a few DG contributors who have great experience and have been very free with their advice (such as LisaP), so to say that questions can only be directed at an RA might miss out those key bits of advice from those who specialise on the riding front. I completely understand the behaviour angle, that is what IH is all about, and I myself refer to our local RA on any pupils I get with groundwork issues and he refers to me with any clients on riding issues. So it's only right that the RAs answer any of those kind of queries on here, but have the riding issues and questions been factored in?
I appreciate the work put in and the solutions so far, many thanks :-)

A lot of RAs do deal with ridden training. Some even more so than ground work but whether they will be on the DG answering those questions is another matter.... and to be honest I can see why RAs wouldn't necessarily want to be giving that sort of advise over a forum having not seen horse or rider.
IMO I guess rider position is one thing (and there has been a lot of valued advise over the years on this front) but you might be getting into mirky water again if it breaches into training because there are so many differing opinions on this. If you look at it from the point of view of someone coming to this forum knowing very little knowledge about IH and it's setup I guess you wouldn't want them to read a thread like that and assume that is the "IH standpoint" on it if you see what I mean?

Good compromise! I tend to put stuff in members (a lot more than I used to) that I don't want the whole world to see.. Eg my horses prev or new owners etc.. Not that I post stuff untrue etc but need to know and all that... Non IH/NH folk don't always see my way of thinking and I like members being for members because anyone bothered to pay for such is good enough for me! I know a few people who enjoy a good bi#*# about me and know of some that have spoken about some on my non-members posts and comments about me being on here, when I did not know they were, so they do lurk.. I have had too many years of people's negativity and have become a lot more private about what I do/don't do/think/say... So for that reason alone I am not so much in favour of members becoming read only to everyone... Glad though that the board is staying in some form for general stuff as it will get people to look more at IH on a whole!

I think it will be hard to not stray into advice/suggestions myself.

I have been on here for over 10 years and found a lot of useful advice for which I am grateful. Uhfortunately I support 7 rescue horses in addition to my riding ones and I just cannot afford £20 to indulge myself rather than them.
"but not for anything to do with training and behaviour (questions, advice or other discussion)",
sorry cannot get the quotes to work but many problems do revolve around training and behaviour. Especially behaviour. Will only RA's be able to comment on the ask the expert board. It will be very frustrating to see a problem someone has dealt with successfully and not to be able to answer.
As examples I was thinking of problems which on first glance were training schooling problems but have other explanations and the wide experience of general horse owners is what is required. For example my horse is getting slower when we go riding, how should I get him moving more actively. My horse is getting really difficult being ridden, seems to react to the slightest little thing, out riding my horse keeps tripping. All three have possibilities of improving the training or riding but I would be most interested in hearing from people with experience in PPID, people with experience in hind gut problems and ulcers and people who have extensive experience taking horses BF.
Will these sort of things be allowed on the general part open to everyone and for everyone to discuss as that would produce the best range of experience and answers, one of which may hit the problem?
