That's marvellous news, I've kept looking in for an update, and that is so good to hear. Hope you're okay too Laura, may I suggest a glass of wine and an early night! xx Oh yes the wine has been opened this eve for sure , not quite an early night as my mum popped over unexpectedly to cheer me up but i am starting to feel relaxed now that i know the boys are ok and the whole ordeal seems a bit more in the past xx

Sorry, only just seen this. Glad to hear they are recovering and hope you are over the worst of the shock by now. XXX
Jack, Clares Shire got out some years ago onto a main road. The only saving grace with him was that food was his God, so he stayed on the grass verge to eat.

So sorry to hear all this Laura but glad they both seem to be recovering, and hope you are too. My two got out about a year ago overnight and went for miles - it took ages to find them the next morning and I was so terrified about what might have happened to them, so I can imagine how awful it was for you. Mine were fine but I did feel very bad: I hadn't shut the gate properly as an unexpected visitor had arrived and I'd gone out of the field through a different gate than I came in. But as others have said, these things just do happen sometimes, however careful we normally are so please try not to give yourself a hard time about it. Wine is definitely recommended for your recovery

I'm sure Laura will be on later but in the meantime...
I popped in again at lunchtime today and they were both much more settled. Yesterday Biscuit had been really tucked into the back of his (enormous) stable yesterday and didn't even want to come and nibble some grass I'd picked for him, but today he seemed much brighter and happier, and wasn't too reluctant to take a few linseed treats.
The fella was better too, less stressy and more relaxed. It was good to see.

You are a star auntie liz thank you so much for your help Well as liz says Big fella is more relaxed with his box rest and biscuit is brighter, i put them out in the walkway between paddocks for an hour this morning and eve whilst i mucked out, think it really helped to clear big fellas head to have a break from stabling, little biscuit was still resting his off hind this eve and didnt venture far from the barn just waited to come back in he also hasnt pawed the ground for food or to be turned out since the accident so i think he wants the rest and quiet of his stable so shall continue with box rest for both of then till the weekend when i can monitor biscuit turned out and how he copes, he is certainly not nearly as lame as he was sunday eve and is improving so all looking good
