Oh Laura, how dreadful. Its natural to feel guilty with the shock but in reality these awful things happen with horses. They will be sore but they're in the best possible hands with you. Look after yourself, hugs to all x x x bertie, following the vets instructions about box rest will be important until he or she is happy with the full diagnosis, swelling can complicate things and you need to be sure no x rays are needed before turning out. Whatever your own feelings about box rest, this is not the time for debate or treatment by internet. Laura and her vet are onto it. Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards

Pleased to read your boys are ok this morning and that they are eating, even if it is only hay. I hope they continue to improve. Don't give yourself a hard time about it, these things happen.

Just read this as my broadband has been down (again). So sorry to read about it Laura, everyone's worst nightmare - I just hope everyone (including you) will be back on an even keel and full health very soon.

Everybody's worst nightmare - mine got out in my last place but were unharmed. Hugs. With any luck, as the soft tissue damage resolves, they will be fine.

Glad to see theyre doing well Laura, hope you got a little sleep!
@ Cookie - im fully aware the vet suggested it - however new thinking is bringing vets round from prescribing boxrest for everything due to fluid build up and stiffening hiding things and exacerbating symptoms. I was only thinking that Laura might be worried to see the boys looking stiffer in the morning and think they had got worse - Id also just walked in after a 12 hr shift so apologies if my post didnt quite suit.

OMG Laura have just seen this :-( Healing vibs for both big and little fella. Glad they seem ok this morning... How totally scary for you. And I too was thinking of you just this weekend as we hadn't have an update for awhile.
Please don't blame yourself though, it does happen. I lost two polo ponies on a main road a few years ago, long story short they bolted I got off and they ran home the wrong way down a main road is rush hour!! Scary stuff but they got home in a better state that me..
I really hope both boys will be fine.. Big Hugs x

Oh Laura, how awful I'm so glad they're safe now, I'm nit surprised you feel awful but I'd bet there's not a horsey person on the planet who hasn't at least once in their lifetime left a gate or door not quite shut, its SO easy to do in the dark or in a rush. I hope they both heal quickly, sounds good that they're doing ok this morning xx

How awful, I so feel for you. Dont beat yourself up about it, accidents happen. Sending healing thoughts to Biscuit and Big Fella, be kind to yourself too.
