Just a quick update, Victoria Henderson - Physio came out to see Lady today, not only is she a lovely lady with a very nice manner she was really sensitive to Lady who though tons better is still prone to worry a bit. Lady had a very thorough check over and there were a couple of spots 'a bit tight' but there was 'nothing significant'. Victoria felt that her back looked worse than it actually is mainly because she has a very low slung tummy with lax muscles due to a few foals and that she is also very deep through her chest. Her back isn't as strong as it could but there is nothing to stop me riding her. We've got a few daily exercises to do which will hopefully help, just got to get Lady to understand what she's meant to do as she was very confused today but I'm sure in a few days she'll get the hang of it. She was also a very brave girl and we only had about half a dozen spooks, which in nearly 2 hrs with a stranger touching her is brilliant.

Lady had her first go at the exercises suggested by the physio lady. We have to do stretches to both sides and between her legs, she also has to do lots of transitions in hand also get her backing up and I've got to arrange a few low poles for her to walk over, I even managed to fine some very thin sticks to put some carrrots on. Lady didn't quite get it but very close and I was pleased to see her tummy lifting as it should on one of the stretches she has to do, I might try working on getting her into a corner as suggested by Victoria up but as she can be a bit spooky I just introduced the sticks today though after a few goes she wasn't trying to back up as much but was stretching far more, bless her she tries so hard to please. The transitions can only be walk and stop as no matter I do Lady will not trot in hand and never has since I've had her but she seemed very happy with it and the carrots definitely got the thumbs up. I think it's a game she's already enjoying.

You'll be sorry you asked Shan This is Lady trying to give me a kiss A lady was collecting manure which was interesting but then she got within 50 feet then she realised mum had frightened the scary lady away She did even better with her stretches today though I'm sure she thinks I'm teasing her.

The trick with carrot stretches is to start by teaching her that moving her head round will get a carrot. If that means she doesn't stretch much, don't worry. Once they cotton on to what they have to do, you can then ask her to stretch a little, then a bit more then... well who knows how far she'll stretch. But don't worry also if she can't beat Toby

No I don't think she will beat Toby but if ever she gets anywhere close I'll try and get a picture, After just 2 days she's getting her muzzle behind her knees, and to the side she is getting past her legs and half way to her tummy. The first day she stepped back a few times but yesterday only twice so she's getting the idea nicely.
