Hi all
Went to view the cob not too far from where I live. Sadly was a no go. The owner advertised him as a 15.1 irish cob. He was more a traditional heavy gypsy cob. Had a ride on him and it just didn't feel right.
So back to searching again. I places a add on horse Quest that I wiill post below. Can anyone give me some help with it. The handful of calls I have had from it have all been either ex race horses or eventers!!!!!! All way over my budget and not the type of horse I am looking for. SHould I have put cob type wanted.
WANTED TO BUY CONFIDENCE GIVING ALLROUNDER Mare or Gelding Between 15 – 16.2hh middleweight 5 to 10 years old Must be uncomplicated ride with nice temperament - Safe and sensible. Ideally will have done a bit of everything, cross country, show jumping, dressage and hunting Doesn’t have to be a world beater just have the quality and ability Must be 100% in traffic- As I hack out on a busy road Experienced, knowledgeable, 5* home awaits with other horses
Thanks
Mx

I don't have time to read through all the replies, but have you thought about ex polo ponies?

I have done the posting wanted adverts and all the phone calls i ever got were totally unsuitable and people just lied to get me there. Never what they said the horses were, most of the time TB's that were hat-racks and had serious problems that needed addressing hence the reason they wanted rid of them. Just be aware no matter how fantastic they make them sound on the phone, its not normally the case

I spent 6 months answering adverts while looking for a 14.2 pony for me and my eldest daughter to share, and didn't find what I wanted/could afford. So in desparation I put a wanted ad in the local paper, and found exactly what I wanted at a price I could almost afford. 12 years later, he's still with me, and he's a star. Good luck.

Hi all
I am finding most of the calls are not safe good all round horses that I have asked for. And most of them are miles away. Not good for viewing a horse.
Out of interest has anyone used a horse dealer life safe cobs or smart cobs. I never know what to think about horse dealers. I guess they all have a job to do and there must be some good ones about.
I have been told if you buy from a good horse dealer you get better rights with trading standards etc if it all goes wrong.

I always find it interesting when people go out looking for these 'perfectly behaved horses and ponies' without realising that actually what makes the pony perfect is all the learning you do on the way....
Maybe thats why you had such a bond with your loan horse, and what you have seen with her owner....

I have to agree here, the bond you build up over time with your horse, facing issues and overcoming them together helps you get the horse your looking so hard for. That horse that is amazing for one person can be a loony for another person.
