I'd be tempted to look at older horses, those under 8 are still babies so even if they are quiet most of the time they'll still be green. I'd try extending your age range up to 13 or 14 years, then they'll have been there and done it and will be more ready to have a go at all those things you want to try

Appaloosa x Cob (14.3hh) For Sale: Lovely natured all rounder. www.look4horses.co.uk/horses4sale/advert/mPzrzBNH9TxXj4294D/Advert describes him well. I've not done any jumping with him because of my rheumatoid arthritis, but previous owners use to, so would need re-introducing. He goes over jumps when schooling on a lunge and when he's hunted, and I'm sure he would enjoy cross country/endurance events. A friend of mine and my riding instructor both ride him out every week at the moment and have no problems with traffic, and up until recently I also rode him regularly on our local 'A' and 'B' roads with no problems. Previous home he was regularly ridden alongside a dual carriageway. Only thing that still requires some work are tractors in very close proximity. He's fine passing on wider lanes, no problem on two car width roads, passes by them in fields or when stationary, but does need a confident rider to encourage him forward on very narrow lanes with no passing places (I tend to turn round and find a gateway, my riding instructor makes him stand or pass by). He has good feet and is happy barefoot or shod. Passport. Vaccinated/Wormed upto date. Teeth & Back checked annually. He is happy in a treeless or treed saddle. Snaffle mouth. I'm only selling him as I want to see him reach his full potential. Something I can't do as my rheumatoid is getting worse. Contact me if you want more information.

My daughter recently sold her horse who has been with us since a foal, who is ID x TB, 9 years old, professionally trained, brilliant in traffic/clip/shoe/box hunts, (not tried show jumping) does cross country intermediate. It was a reluctant sale (as she is expecting a surprise baby) he was out on loan for 18 months, loan due to end last Jan, but, as the girl who had him on loan could only afford £2K we sold him for that. (we do still have his stubben dressage saddle and Jeffries Double bridle though..... )

Hi there tractors will be a issue as we live on a farm. I am happy to ride a horse through something spooky but not sure if I am confident enough to deal with traffic issues.
He looks lovely a really nice cob.

I am probs no help but when i was looking and i looked at a fair few with a mind set idea of what i wanted. I wanted ; 14.3hh - 16h weight carrier 8 - 14yrs old Forward going but not silly. Cob type prefered. Biggy was i had budget of only £2000 That was with my mum putting in a lot of that.
What i got -
Caspar from a dealers i know a dealers. But he was an ok dealer.
14.2hh cob type about 16 yrs. Good forward going horse/pony with nice nature. £1700
I know he was older but he was what i wanted.
Maybe look at dealers?

Shame, as thats all he would need is someone to have the time/patience to introduce/desensitize him to tractors in close proximity. Seeing them daily on a farm would be the ideal answer as he rarely sees them round here so unable to get him used to them. Although he was happy enough to walk round/sniff some stationary tractors with bobs and trailers in a field that I sneaked him into one evening when out for a hack. Things you do with your horses...
If anyone knows of anyone looking for a lovely allrounder then pass on my details.

If you can find a horse with the right temperament you could, with help from RA's and Enlightened Equitation trainers, produce a 'perfect' horse like the one you are looking for. and it will be a wonderful journey for you both. A ready-made one will be very difficult to find - would you sell one like that? Good luck with your search. I know how frustating it is and there are so many liars out there. Jax

Hi there
I agree with help I could bring a horse on. I had this journey with my last horse and in the end it broke my heart. To cut a long story short I lost her and it has taken me 5 years to even start looking to replace her.
I found it very difficult and expensive getting help as I live in West Cornwall. Dan Wilson is over 70 miles away my nearest RA that was. And EE instructors are even futher away.
I now have a partner family and job so just won't have the time to go through this again.
Hope that makes sense.
Take care
M

Hi Lucypally,
If you can phone me tomorrow morning the girl that works for us at the weekends is selling her coloured cob and I think he might be just what you are looking for. She is only selling him as she has a new youngster to bring on which was brought for her by her Aunt and her parents won't allow her to keep both. Will pm you with more details.
cheers
Lynette
