Livery or kept at home? 6 kept at home, 3 on one rented field, 2 at another livery yard.
Type of livery if on livery? The ones on livery are on DIY
Distance/time from home? All are within 10 minutes driving of home.
Number of your horses at yard? Only my 3 at one rented field, ponly mine at home, and 2 of mine at the third yard.
Total number of horses on yard? There are 8 in total on the third yard, two are mine.
What is your YO like? Both my landlords are great. The one I rent a field off I only ever see to pay my rent. The other is there daily doing her horses, and she lives on site. She's lovely. Couldn't be nicer.
Facilities? The field I rent has 3 stables, two huge barns and water. There is an electric hookup for me to attach a generator for electric. The other yard has it all. Indoor school, internal stabling, our own field, tack/tea room. At home we have stabling and electric/water but no school.
Hacking? Hacking from rented field is not great. Hacking from home is great, hacking from livery yard is ok.
Monthly rent? Rent on both my liveries is £12 per week. One is per horse, the other is £12 for the field.
24/7/365 turnout allowed? All year round turnout.
Fencing type? Hedge and wire at both liveries, hedge and rails at home.
Own field or shared? Own field with both liveries and at home.
Field shelters? No field shelters at home or one livery, but other they have 24/7 access to shelter.
Bedding/hay/haylage available? No
Extra jobs available if you need them done? No
Close to other horsey things e.g shops, xc courses, competitions? Yes close to some facilities like show jumping, but quite a way from a lot of showing shows. We have x country courses we can hire nearby.
Lorry/trailer storage? Cost? Lorry storage free at both liveries and at home obviously.
Your top 3 pros/reasons you like your yard? I love my liveries because I am left to get on with what I do, one has an indoor school which the only other owner doesn't use so we pretty much have it to ourselves.
Any cons/things you would change? I would love to have a school at home. Maybe...one day...

Livery or kept at home? Livery Type of livery if on livery? DIY Distance/time from home? 4/5 miles Number of your horses at yard? 3 Total number of horses on yard? 12 What is your YO like? Livery or kept at home?
Livery
Type of livery if on livery?
DIY
Distance/time from home?
2 minute bike ride ;D
Number of your horses at yard?
2 (one's out on loan)
Total number of horses on yard?
70 odd!!!
What is your YO like?
A business man. Nice guy but no clue about running a yard from the horse's point of view - only the money/business point of view.
Facilities?
Loads - 3 indoors schools, outdoor, walker, lungepen etc
Hacking?
8 miles off road but it's boring - all flat, no trees. Some brideways if you go on the road but they don't link up very well into a circular ride.
Monthly rent?
£170 + extras for assisted DIY
24/7/365 turnout allowed?
No, only in summer
Fencing type?
Post & Rail with electric, except for starvation paddocks which are electric tape.
Own field or shared?
Mine's shared, a couple have their own though.
Field shelters?
Nothing
Bedding/hay/haylage available?
Hay and straw included
Extra jobs available if you need them done?
Yep - assisted DIY
Close to other horsey things e.g shops, xc courses, competitions?
Tack shop on site, regular comps onside, XC course on its way!
Cons:
YO does well running it as a business - things always get done and it's always developing and growing but he needs someone to do the horsey side of things - the decisions made about the full liveries with things like hay, turnout etc aren't made with the horses in mind, but hte business.
More turnout, drier fields. Natural field shelters
Hills and trees! Its soooo flat and the hackings pretty boring!

Livery or kept at home? livery Type of livery if on livery? All DIY, only 4 are grass, others have a stable Distance/time from home? 4 miles Number of your horses at yard?2Total number of horses on yard? 28 What is your YO like? friendly, but not really horsey, takes the idea of DIY to the extreme!!! Good in some ways as he doesn't interfer too much Facilities? grass lunging/schooling paddock. Grass jumping paddock with about 6 jumps. 2 hay barns. Very small tack room and big storage room. concreted tieing up/shoeing area. Electricity and water! Hacking? pretty good. Access to South Downs and country park. Quiet country lanes with good grass verges. Monthly rent? I pay £52 a month for grass livery. Its £87 if you have a stable 24/7/365 turnout allowed? Yes! Lots of grass and large fields. Lack of grass turnout is never a problem. TOO much grass often is!!! Fencing type? Hmmmm..bit dodgy. Barbed wire in some places and not very well maintained I have replaced mine with my own electric fencing. Own field or shared? my own 2/3 acre field for my 2 boys Field shelters? no but great natural shelter on three sides Bedding/hay/haylage available? we can buy our own in from feed store 1/2 mile away which delivers! Extra jobs available if you need them done? some people work out favours between themselves, and there is usually someone offering to do turnout/bring in for small fee. Close to other horsey things e.g shops, xc courses, competitions? 3 tack stores/feed places within 2 miles! xc course and menage to hire nearby. Lorry/trailer storage? Cost? yes, no idea how much! Your top 3 pros/reasons you like your yard? all year 24hr turnout, freedom to manage my field as I like. Good hacking with lots of canter verges. Any cons/things you would change? ALL WEATHER MENAGE!!! Its the only thing I'd change!

We are about to buy another 3 acres on which we will put a small indoor school, an American Barn with eight boxes and a stable to use as a wash room, come clipping room, come treatment room.
OH is talking about putting an all weather track around the big field. We also have an all weather gallops 2 miles away so I use that when I want and the 2 miles is a good warm up and then a cool down.
We have a mixture of roads and tracks plus about 4,000 acres of forestry to ride in which has a lot of good hills.
Great for getting an endurance horse fit.

Livery or kept at home? Livery
Type of livery if on livery? Grass Livery
Distance/time from home? 4 miles - 8 mins!
Number of your horses at yard? Just Marygold.
Total number of horses on yard? 6 - 4 pure-bred arab, 1 anglo-arab and 1 part-bred (Marygold!)
What is your YO like? Total Angel in human disguise. Nothing is too much trouble.
Facilities? Basic. More than enough grazing for all 6 horses. Shelters (man-made and natural) in each field. Self-filling troughs. Farm yard where my trailer is parked. Electric in the barn for clipping, etc. A very small paddock that can be used for simple schooling. But that's it! A couple of stables if needed but they are used Nov-March by one of the other liveries so if box-rest were required during the winter, I'd have to move her to another yard temporarily.
Hacking? Brilliant. Some roadwork (maybe 40:60 roads:bridleway depending which route you ride) but some fantastic routes. Farmer lets me ride on his fields when they're not rented out for cattle which gives me some great hillwork for interval training)
Monthly rent? £40
24/7/365 turnout allowed? Yes. Gets pretty grotty around the field shelters and gates, but the rest of the grazing is standing up very well indeed.
Fencing type? Post and wire with electric tape infront. A bit tatty - needs to be tidied up when the ground dries out a bit.
Own field or shared? Shared with two other geldings, one of whom is my mother's horse.
Field shelters? Yes - one for each horse.
Bedding/hay/haylage available? Hay and straw
Extra jobs available if you need them done? Only by fellow liveries. But as we all get on very well there is always someone who would be able to sort your horse out. Mum and I share the duties with Merak's owner so that they can all be fed at the same time without fisty-cuffs.
Close to other horsey things e.g shops, xc courses, competitions? Yes - tack shop about a mile away, with an excellent teashop! Yards with shows within hacking distance or a short drive. Nearest XC course (open day last sunday in the month) about 30 mins away. Some really good hacking with places to park the box about 30-40 mins drive.
Lorry/trailer storage? Cost? Yep - parked behind the barn out of site. No charge.
Your top 3 pros/reasons you like your yard? 1. Ample grazing to allow the horses to live out 24/7 2. Lovely bunch of liveries and horses who are all good friends and help each other out, hack out, gossip and generally have a ball. 3. Brilliant hacking.
Any cons/things you would change? 1. A school would be great. 2. Lights. Everything has to be done by headtorch at the moment! 3. It's about 4 miles in the wrong direction from work!
