I thought I'd start this again - hope that is OK so that more people will hopefully look and act.
Please check out the website, click on the banner about the Spanish horses and then check out all the links. The news will be updated when there is anything new to report that can be shared. Next report will be after this Thursday 4th Sept.
I have just spoken to Susan at Holme Park Stud who bred many of the horses, most of which are now dead. She is the one who has set up a donation line. Again see the website for
details
The charity in Spain which originally started the process are the ones ensuring that the horses get fed. Antonio is the director of that charity and he personally is regularly driving lorry loads of food to the gate. They need more money to keep doing this and every penny of donations will go to that cause, whilst the horses are in need and in Spain.
Antonio has a meeting arranged with the Spanish authorities this Thursday at which he will try and negotiate the release of the horses, alive, and not to be destroyed unless there is no option.
However there is some suspicion that Suzy Jenkins intends to take them to Portugal next. I don't know what would happen if she did that, but let's hope it isn't going to happen. Many are not fit to travel anyway.
If the horses are released to Antonio and the charity they will need temporary homes in Spain and again our donations will go to to keeping them & nursing them back to health and hopefully bringing some back to the UK. Where more temporary homes will be needed.
The WHW (ILPH) have refused to get involved and I don't know why. They apparently said they had more than enoughto keep them occupied in the UK, but paradoxically it is the RSPCA who are doing more - well there's a thing! - and they are prosecuting her for horse neglect in the UK but what chance she returns for that hearing?!
The Spanish charity will keep strict records with receipts of all of the money spent that has been donated to them by the Holme Park Stud fund. Caroline is an interpreter who is liaising between Antonio and Susan at the stud, and I am being sent copies of her emails tonight. She has also now been put in touch with Tracy James at Antequera (Natural Horse Riding - RA etc) as I passed on her details to them, and who may be able to help.
If they are NOT released we could continue to pay to feed these horses and I have no doubt SJ will once more move them once they are in better condition, then it will all happen overagain. That is my only concern.
A lady in the next village has recently managed to catch sight of the horses from a track outside the property and says they don't look too bad and they have food.
The vet is still being allowed to visit, but no-one else.
OK that's about all I know at the moment, and I don't expect to hear more til after Thursday but I will be checking out the website anyway and would ask everyone else to do that a couple of times a day too.
Please could anyone else add more when they can & I would ask those in Southern Spain to contact the charity - I will put up the interpreters email address asap - to find out if they can be of practical use or put pressure on the Spanish Authorities to release the horses alive.
