Uppety. It's unbelieveable that SJ is refusing food being delivered - she is obviously a very unstable person if she is capable of causing so much harm who knows what else she's capable of :-(

I was recently in Spain and read about this in an English language newspaper dated 10th October. The article, which I've condensed, reads as follows:
A British woman accused of allowing 16 horses to starve to death in Cadiz has appeared in a UK court on similar charges.
Suzanna Wynne Jenkins is accused of starving a total of 13 horses at her stud farm in Glucestershire. The horses found on her farm were emaciated and living in filthy conditions, Forest of Dean Magistrates Court heard.
Ns Jenkins, who moved to Medina Sidonia last year, denies 3 charges of causing unnecessary suffering and 5 of poor husbandry, including inadequate shelter and food.
The article continues to describe the awful findings at the UK farm and then continues about the Spanish situation:
Jenkins moved 52 horses to an estate outside Medina Sidonia, where earlier this year, The Olive Press revealed that 16 of her horses had died.
While local rescue groups insisted they died of starvation and neglect, Jenkins claimed they died of contaminated food and saline water. A further 36 horses have effectively become wards of court and are still facing a death sentence from the Spanish Authorities.
There is a picture of a dead horse and it is very emaciated - not the result of recently contaminated food, I would have thought.
Her explanations to the UK court about the horses on the UK stud was that some had a virus and others had medical conditions and that horses had various "ups and downs" as they were growing causing them to be underweight.
The woman sounds totally potty to me.
I have also heard that she has moved to Portugal.

Sue Jenkins has been sucessfully prosecuted in relation to the condition of horses she was keeping in the UK . However she has only been banned from keeping horses for 2 years, and the fine she got was tiny compared to what the animal welfare organisations have forked out on the horses. It is hoped that she can be brought to trial in Spain as well, due to the dead and emaciated horses found in her care there but Spain has a very poor standard of animal welfare. There is a short news story here : www.horseandhound.co.uk/news/article.php?aid=270710&cid=397
