Wondered if anyone might be able to shed some light on my situation.
I have a percheron mare that I'm looking to rehome.
I have a lady who expresed an intrest in her and asked if she could send me a holding deposit for her. Feeling that this would be dishonest and from what she had told me that she could offer the mare the home she needed i told her i would with draw her from sale until she could get to veiw her. Which i did, then a few days later she contacted me to say that she couldn't have her as couldn't find accomadation for her.
A few weeks went by and i received an email from her telling me that she had been offered a stable big enough for her and would again like to purchase the mare. once bitten i this time accepted a holding deposit to with draw her from sale until the lady could view her on the 29th dec. I received the money and thought that all would be well.
The 29th came without a call email ect and no viewing. I've since tried to call her and email with no response.
What do i do???

well xmas or no xmas, if i ws buying a horse, then thats all id think about, dont faff about with the woman, if she really wanted her, then she would come up with all the money, it always look suss seeing the same horse being advertised more than twice, or it does to me, she has probably done more harm than good, what is it about the woman that make you want her to have your mare?, anyone looking for a ned, would have all that kind of stuff, stable if thats your bag, and grazing , in place before looking surely, i hope you do find a good home for your mare, is it your young girl that you bought a year or 2 ago?

Nooo, She's going no where!! But did set me off well..... collecting Percherons! lol
I now have four mares, two in foal, one two 1/2 yo and the mare in question and a spanish norman foal (Percheron x Andalusian) out of one of my mares.
The mare in question is looking for a bit of a special home, she came to me with foal at foot, dreafuly thin and suffering from nerve damage in her backend. Basicly looking for a non breeding, steady hacking, family home. just want to be right by the horse.

8-)It's simple, if a purchaser pays a deposit but doesn't complete the sale, the deposit is forfeit. E-mail her stating that as you have not heard from her, and she failed to arrive on the aformentioned date, you are taking it that she no longer wishes to purchase the mare, and will therefore be putting her back on the market. ( make sure you keep a copy) If you still don't hear, forget it. The deposit is yours to keep.

A couple of people have expressed an intrest in the mare and asked for piccies so hear goes. i have to add that she has put on alot of weight at this but still has a fair way to go. when i brought her she really was thin. not the best pics as tring to keep a white horse clean unrugged in this weather is a task in itself.

I would seek advice from a solicitor before cashing what was specified as a holding deposit.
It is pants when people mes you around though.

Did you have anything like collection date in writing anywhere...on the reciept you gave for the deposit?...if you did then you are covered but if no date was mentioned in writing then it could be tricky and they may get the hump...lol...but id say email them too or text whatever, but give them 24hrs to collect or they forfiet the deposit...shes got a really kind face...hopefully shes going to a nice place..

I would not be at all keen to let a horse go to someone so flaky.
