Have I watched the same video as everyone else?! Judging by the "Awww cute" comments I think I must have jumped to the wrong one. What I saw wasn't "Ah cute" but a cringing "OMG! Is this for real?" Tiny child? Big horse? Lunge rein? Loose dog? I don't usually do the judgmental thing, and am content to let people get on with life, but how utterly stupid and irresponsible can you get? That horse only has to jump forwards and SPLAT! One ex-child. Not clever.

Why? And why is the 2yr old being lunged? Disaster waiting to happen and don't even need to think about how that horse will be in later life...

![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) God,here we go again, the " Health and safety brigade" What is the matter with you all. This generation is soooooooo indocterated with this Nanny state philosphy! Why can't you just chill out. No, I don't particularly like 2 yr old's being lunged, but thousands of people do it and with their horses tied in and going faster to boot, but this horse is anything but stressed about it. Do you all REALLY think that this Father would put his child at risk he is there, with it's every move ?? Did NONE of you ever ride your ponies bareback with a headcollar and single rope, on the road, without a hat ?? NO?, well what a shame. Thousands of us did, and we are still here 50 years later to tell the tale, AND, it taught us to be horsemen, and women. I remember well, one poor poster putting up one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen of a child and a horse on this site. The poor woman was shot down in flames.!! I'm not even sure she didn't leave. Please chill out and enjoy your horses as they were meant to be enjoyed and stop finding fault in posts that are made in good faith with the intention of making us smile. Here is the photo, I hope if the person who posted it is still here, that she doesn't mind. I saved these pictures when she posted it, because to me it was the epitome of what trust between an animal and human really means. ![](http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/SpecialSparkle3/Trust2.jpg)

I'm not really overfussed, except for the fact that the 2yr old is being lunged. I think we are allowed to have opinions..and reply in a polite and considerate way to any post, Special Sparkle 3 I think you have come over a bit harsh on those who don't agree with the video being cute, we're entitled to our opinions. There would be outcry if the child was knocked over by the horse spooking. I think that lungeing a 2yr old is wrong, regardless of stress, think of those legs.

Well said SS3, I agree with you. When I was brought up, and that wasnt long ago, im only 18 now, I walked a mile to the horse on my own, twice a day at no older then 7!

I tend to agree with ss3. I am against 2yr olds being lunged! but bar that, I thought it was a lovely video. The Dad was always near his daughter and I am sure he picked the safest calmest equine they had.
A small child can get hurt very easily in loads of situations, going on swings, just playing anywhere thats icy, and we cant protect them from everything.
I used to do the same as you kate! except I didnt get my first pony til i ws 9 so I was a wee bit older.

I darn't say what else I used to do, and some stuff I still DO do, for fear of being shot down, But, I never got injured, and obviously neither did you, and it made me a hell of a lot more committed to what I want now then if Mummy and Daddy did everything for me.

that second pic would make a brilliant Christmas card!! Im not a fan of lunging youngsters but i think that vidio was cute as well. Her dad never left her they were in an enclosed area, and although i might have put a hat on her myself every one is different and has different ideas. Oh and yes i did used to jump on with no hat to ride down the grass verge! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ;D
