Thanks alot...I just get so much from just having them and looking after them, its funny now.. yous will all remember at the beginning that Rose was so ill and being picked on by the others, and tonight I was watching her with her little herd (her and Tila are with two geldings and a little mare) and she is turning into a little madam, when I go in to see them I always give them all a little bit of attention, and Rose doesnt like any of the others coming near me, tonight she really turned quite horrid and chased a little pony so far up the field, the pony couldnt get away fast enough, generally they are all quite happy together though...... its great to see Rose play and be with others, and Tila is happy with her doing that... I pulled Roses rug of today for the vet coming and I thought she looked like shes put more condition on, so I'll definately take pics tomorrow and post them tomorrow night... also I've got a newspaper article I want to scan in and post on her, the horse week paper is really popular over here and they have had loads of requests to hear how they were doing.. xx

Hi there! Just a quick update on Rose and Tila.. they are great, still out 24/7 and doing really well, they are getting 2 feeds a day and haylage, they've got nice cosy warm Rambos on... Tila has bonded with a mare that doesnt bond with any other horses, and Rose is quite bossy with the ponys... they are really doing good.. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them, but be warned they are MUDDY and there not getting groomed again until the wkend...

Sorry I havent been on much, but just going through a wee fase of not sitting infront of the pc much, Rose and Tila are still great, still out and no probs, I just went out this morning and bought them 2 Rambo supremes, so there gonna be cosy but its just not cold enough yet to move to them, maybe in a week or so.. oh and Tila definitely looks preggers!!

ok I had a good look at Tilas belly today I put the new rambo on her, shes very cosy, and I take it back I'm not sure if she looks preggers anymore, I think shes just got a bit of a belly!! I dunno, anyway time will tell, but I really hope not, definitely couldnt afford anymore livery money, but if she is then it would stay.... of course!! I put her rug on and I'll see how shes goes, I wasnt sure if I should or not, last night was really blustery and wet and it was cold this morning so I expect it was freezing through the night, the reason I put the warmer one of Tila today is, she always seems to be looking to stand under shelter when its bad and not grazing, Rose is the complete opposite she will graze out in the open no matter how bad it is... but I've had a few suggestions to say I maybe shouldnt be putting these warm rugs on them and allow them to "harden" up a bit, I disagree, what do yous think?... I no its good to be as natural as possible, however sometimes I think that.... why should they have to stand there and brave the elements when they can be rugged up and comfortable.. some opinions wouldnt go a miss, thanks..

Well personally I would ignore them Tia! For one thing they have been used to french weather, which is considerably warmer if it was south, for another thing they have only really started recovering this last few months! Also Tila is quite old and has probably had a tough life of it. If they are sweating up then their rugs are too warm,if they are shivering or their ears are cold then they are defo too thin. I would think that Tila should be swopping from medium ( most days) to heavy if the weather is really cold/wet/windy.Rose should be fine in medium at the moment, but may possibly need a thicker one when the weather is vile, see how she goes. 20 plus is certainly a bit late for them to harden up without making them miserable at best and ill at worst imo. Gosh,I do hope poor Tila isnt pregnant.

ah great thanks sarah, just exactly what I thought!! and its blooming great to hear it from you too, yes I hope she isnt pregnant too, I really am in tune with Tila and I feel she was ready for the ram supreme... I'm the weirdo at the yard who will stand and watch my horses from a distance to see what there doing and how they are out!! lol, and I came to the decision that Tila hates the bad weather, but at the same time the turnout is second to none if there out all the time, if we get sleet with fierce winds, they will come in of course, but her health is much better being out.. and your right Rose is fine in her medium weight, she plays around alot during the day and there loads of natural shelter for them at night, but I no Tila would prefer to come into a warm stable, I'll see how they go... oh and yes I did say to the advice givers about the french weather, it can get really bad over here, but there getting plenty of food and still putting condition on.. gradually and there in good health.. thanks for the advice.. xxx
