Thanks, yea Gem I think paper bedding would be best for her, its hard to get though, at the minute I got her on rubber mats with a scatter of shavings from Roses bed each night which means there not fresh and dusting but not dirty either, just a little heavier than the fresh stuff.. I've heard that there are shavings you can get that are for horses with this sort of condition... so I was gonna look into that, other than that I'll buy a shredding machine!! lol

Hi all
There is a great article in the farm week today about Rose and Tila, rather than tell you all about it, I'm going to try and find a link, so bear with me.....

Have you tried cardboard bedding, very absorbent and not at all dusty ?? They both look great, a real credit to you, well done

Hello guys! Well I've finally done it! and turned them out today, ok... so its not written in stone... if the weather gets really really bad they can come in, stables are waiting, but I have to say they really enjoyed their new area, they galloped around and checked out every corner, they have 2 boys next to them who live out, and Rose was really keen to meet them, but Tila wasnt so fused.. lol... when they seem ready they are all going to be together, theres loads of ground for them and plenty of natural shelter, so hopefully they will be fine... I have a little field attached were I can bring them into for feeds and to work with them, so its just perfect... I just hope they are happy there... both of them are in good health at the minute, so fingers crossed, Tilas copd symtems are really not noticable anymore and Rose is just thriving every day!! I'll take some pics tomorrow of there new fields and post them...

Just a quick update... Rose and Tila are doing really well, nothing exciting to add at the mo!! sorry... but they are having there feet trimed on Wed and I'm getting the vet out to give Tila a check up, other than that, they are really enjoying there new turnout area, I'm gonna take pics on Sunday, yous wouldnt believe what they have, approx 25 acres of ground, with loads of natural shelter! I love it and they seem so content, I've been picking up Roses feet in the field and working away with them and they are being absolute angels! Nothing much else to report... xx

Thanks! It is fab, and my little field to work with them in is great too, they are so good, I call them in the morning and evening and they come running, I open the fence up and they come straight through, the boys dont even attempt to push there way through, even with the food on offer!! Yes I will take pics later or tomorrow, prob 2morrow.. Rose is 110% with her rugs been put on/off and tila, they are super with feet and leading is no problem now too.. I've been putting so much more time into them lately, at times I just lie in the field with a book while they stand over or beside me, when I'm arriving they call, (which youd expect with a bucket of feed) but when I leave they call me which I think is lovely, its like there saying dont go yet!! such amazing horses and I'm getting so much love from them... there worth everything finanically and emotionally.. Rose is learning so fast, and she really wants and enjoys doing little pieces with me in the field... she backs up beautifully with no pressure at all, just body language... fingers crossed for the farrier tomorrow.... oh and Tilas having a check up by the vet, I'm expecting her to be all clear and not need any meds now with them living out.. and to top it all off our weather is still amazing!!! although Rose has got a lightweight Rambo on now, in a few weeks we'll move to a warmer one for her and put the lightweight on Tila..

Hiya!! Just had vet and farrier visit, the vet was out to check Tila over and he says her lungs are much much better, but still a little bit of a struggle, he said her being out is really helping! so she was able to have her second jag today, she couldnt have it before because of the steriods.. all is well with her.. It went really well with the farrier, he is very good and young as in.. not too traditonal... Rose was just super, I have been doing a lot with her feet, Tila is super with me and will lift her feet up as soon as I tap her leg, but with the farrier she was a little worried, after the first foot I askd if he could finish her in her stable beside Rose, and he did and she was fine.. I think with Tila its all about trusting someone, she is super bonded with me and hubby (and kids) but not fussed on anyone else ... but she was very good anyway... xx
