Only just caught up with your thread tia! Rose looks wonderful - unrecognisable really!! You have done a fab job. Congratulations on your unexpected gift. I think that would scare the hell out of anyone who didn't want or think they were going to have anymore children. I hope you are all ok. xx

thanks to you all... I have moved Rose and Tila to their final destination (my inlaws place)... the first night was a bit of a nightmare, Rose took colic... I think with the change in the haylage.. but anyway ... I caught her right at the start and got the vet out, she came round pretty much straight away, but hubby and I spent the night with her anyway... just left them bout 10 mins ago and they are very chilled, Rose has a new friend.. a nice friesien mare (same age) so she has a pal to play with... and Tila hasnt been lame for a few days, no signs of copd either... infact everyone is remarking on how young and healthy she looks... so we just need time to settle in now..

Yea, Sara, when I moved her from yard to friends for 2 days while we cleared out the stables, then moved them round the corner to in-laws place, the first night there she took spas colic, I caught her straight away and had the vet out really quickly, we managed to catch her in time, but it wasnt looking good at one point, the haylage was slightly different, so it may have been that and the stress of moving around... but it had to be done..... anyway I spent the night with her in the stable and she was ok.... I'm not convinced that shes not going to have long term probs from being so underweight though, she sweats alot when I bring her in at night, like for the first 10 mins, and its all round her chest area, I'm going speak to the vet about this on Monday....... sorry I thought I had updated yous with all this, I'm going mad, the day after Rose taking colic I had a miscarriage ....well an ectopic preg actually, so I've been in/out of hos for the last couple of weeks, thats prob why I havent been updating yous properly....

Tia,Ive only just caught up with this.So sorry to hear about your ectopic, that must have been very painful and distressing for you. You did tell me about the sweating, but I didnt know what it could be,she did do it when she was here too but I hoped it would be something to do with her poor condition that would disappear over time. I didnt realise she had colicked again,I guess it doesnt do them any good when they have been as poor as she was,she really was almost dead when she arrived. She colicked here when I first kept her in overnight,so yes,it seems to be change and/or change in fibre that upsets her. Hugs to you all.xxx

thanks sarah and iwillbuy, yes I think its something to do with fibre... Sarah did you notice any sort of lameness or anything uneven about her front legs... over the winter I hadnt notice because of the yard, bad turnout and never getting the school to use .. but now at in-laws yard, I have good facilities etc and I can see a twist in her front right, it looks as though she was maybe born with it rather than something that has happened, she did get a cut at other yard and I put it down to it ... but now I can see her trotting up and have a nice flat surfice, its looks as though her right hoof/pastern is pointing outwards... shes clearly very lame on it... vet is coming this week again, so I'll have him look at it... anyway, thanks yea I'm getting over the ectopic now and just throwing myself back into the horses, not that I was ever out of it..........lol

Hi Tia,
I cant say as I noticed anything when she was here, but that doesnt necessarily mean there wasnt anything,I may not have noticed given her condition. The trotters move in a way that is strange to my eye also which could have masked things.Let us know what the vet says and I hope its nothing too bad.xx
