Just a quick update on the Just Giving fund for the Percheron mare - - The dedicated fund www.justgiving.com/chanellie stands at £785 plus the £180 donated direct to EMW throught the main Just Giving page total £960 plus the Gift Aid money less fees of about £200. When doing this type of appeal I tend to look on the GA money as "emergency extra" because there is always something else to pay for. BUT in this case I think we could say the original target of £1,000 has been reached. Just a small note - - when setting up this type of appeal through Just Giving you can only do it for 3 months - - this appeal was set up with one horse in mind and will only run for 4 weeks not the 3months stated at the top right of the appeal page . EMW is a very small charity and struggles to pay for day to day needs of the horses we have already given Sanctuary to and, to be blunt, cannot afford donations and support to be diverted away to other things for longer than necessary. Thank you to everyone who has supported, not just this appeal, but also EMW.

chanellie while I appreciate what you are saying I raised this point in the beginning - all horses deserve the chance and no we cannot rescue them all so to single one out is saved and then close the book on the others is very hard - this thread may show people who have the funds the horses in need - EMW is not the only cause that members of the site may wish to donate to its upto the people who donate, lets not discourage people from continuing to raise funds to rescue another horse.
Surely they all deserve a chance? surely if people want to rescue another and the donations are there this should be encouraged? it wont stop me giving to EMW when I can nor will it others

Micheline is saved also now That's great news. I've just been looking at her and trying to work out what I could do to save her and knowing that a third horse + 1 isn't viable. Thank you to whoever has saved her. On another note, I think EMW should be congratulated for stepping in to support Cybelle as an adjunct to their activities in the UK. But as Chanellie says their prime focus is on UK activities and they mustn't lose sight of the demands and requirements this places on their monetary and human resources. It would be great if EMW could continue to divert some time to the campaign to stop the ridiculous travel arrangements for the meat trade on the continent. Would they perhaps consider a scheme whereby concerned individuals like me could make a small monthly donation with half the money going to EMW UK and half to stopping horses being transported hundreds or thousands of miles for slaught - and perhaps saving some of them along the way?

I wonder if a website was created to help raise awareness and try and raise money would be any good?
Any ideas?

Difficult as it may be to accept that we're not going to rehome them all I think that's what we have to do - there'll always be 'just one more'.....
Personally I think we need to direct our energies to helping the ILPH campaign for 'on the hook, not the hoof'....

well hopefully we can document our efforts here and take photos of our rescues and send it through to the ILPH...and EMW to hopefully help make the public more aware, these rescues are a way of getting our foot in the door so to speak, and they are three or four horses that wont end up as salami at least
