I had one of those wow rides. Spend 1/2 an hour getting really fustrated about not been able to get it right and coordinate more than one thing at a time then it just all sort of seemed to click together and Dan gave me some mega work in return. Wanted to hack but noone else round her e seemed to be riding out and didnt fancy going alone.

Yup, got all tinselled up & had a quick hack - set off as someone else was passing on the bridleway so we plodded & chatted for 20 mins, before splitting up. Wanted to get some road work in while traffic light so we had a good trot. Lots of people waved as they drove past. Then a couple of nice canters back to the yard. Home with 20 mins to bath, wash hair get changed & out to lunch. Just made it!!!

Boo hoo, I am 200 miles from Blue and really miss her. My parents (completely non-horsey) went for a walk to visit her and give her carrots so I felt better after hearing about that.

Went out on the perfect "no traffic" day with my friend, who has never been on the road before (horse is fine, it's her confidence that's a problem).
Anyway, the traffic wasn't that light, but we did it ;D Plus we had a nice little canter on bridleway on the way home.
Lincoln is a star - he's got the best brakes in the world and yet will walk to canter without zooming off - great for my confidence too ;D Hope everyone else had a nice ride today.

|Didn't get to ride but did walk out with a barefoot JJ and H.......biiiig mistake. H was a pain and bucked and lurched and refused to walk and was generally a brat, and completely wound poor JJ up to the point that he actually reared in protest when she trotted away. I had to give him a ticking off and he sulked after that, but still wanted to trot.... I don't actually think he's 100% sound but he seems to have other ideas which is good So I was a happy Finn even though keeping up with him wore me out and it; the LAST time I'm taking him anywhere with H. We also met a very loud and non-road legal little motorcycle roaring along the seafront, piloted by two boys who thought I was waving at them when I told them to slow down.....JJ rearing and trying to buggger off made them slither to a terrified halt, bike stalled, two little pale faces going 'Sorry!!!!!' Ned snorted and pranced his way past while I tried very hard to keep a straight face. Gosh, it was funny. THey didn't have a clue at first, but I bet they never try to race past a horse again

Have family here at the house so no riding for us, we just about had time to whizz down to the yard, feed the fatties in the field and bring Bailey and Sparrow in because they're going hunting tomorrow. The rest of the day has been spent listening to realtives rambling on about nothing... roll on boxing day!

I had a lovely ride yesterday. Didn't go the route I planned because it was misty so I didn't want to do any roadwork. So we just had a lovely time in a National Trust park that borders our livery yard, had some super canters and a lovely amble about. Smashing.

Have ridden all Christmas. Today we had a 'bird bomb' (pheasant bursting out of the hedgerow) right under Blue's feet. He was just getting over that when we were attacked by a blowing black bin bag! He spun and charged for home. Turned him and settled. Got down, rubbed him all over with the bag, remounted and rode home. Educational I suppose!

We had a lovely ride both on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day. Today the horses had a day off, as it was a free-for-all shoot day today, ie, they shoot everywhere and anywhere on the estate, so pretty hard to avoid them We tinselled up my daughter's pony. Mine has never worn tinsel before, but we practised putting tinsel on her after her ride, and she wasn't too bothered, so next year she'll be tinselled up I guess. Pictures below of my daughter and her beloved pony (she made him a stocking this year and asked for Santa to fill it, and Santa was kind enough to donate some carrots and a bad of spearmint treats) Look what Santa brought the pony ! : - Pony doesn't look impressed (he wanted to get going, he hates standing about, he likes to be on the go) Checking his tinsel out : - Nearly ready to go for a hack, just had to bridle Star up (doesn't she look miserable at the though LOL) Back from our ride, daughter still playing with the pony ! Star relieved it's all over, and looking perky and pretty again ! Caption this one if you dare LOL !!

Didn't ride yesterday, daylight just seemed to run off too quickly inbetween dinner and opening presents! Besides, my thigh muscles were still recovering from the emergency stop Willow did on Sat! When having a very short canter through a little wooded area we came across a cyclist stood with his bike by a bench as we came round a slightly corner, first thing I knew was Willow slammed on the brakes and leapt to the left, my head ended up in her mane and I obviously clamped every muscle to stay on! So very sore next 2 days! lol! Had a short ride today, Willow is still unfit after her 3 months off with a virus so just 35mins in walk hacking out, and discovered that the parents of 2 kids who live on a lane I have to ride up have bought them mini quad bikes for Christmas! Argh! Their Dad was with them and they were on a little scrubby field next to their garden not the lane thank goodness, and to give them credit stopped when they heard us coming. Unfortunately the daughter decided that waiting approx 7 seconds for us to pass was enough, restarted her engine and Willow promptly piaffed up the rest of the lane snorting! She was pretty good really and though was uptight on the way back didn't do anything silly so I was pleased with her. She even gave a couple of neighs to horses in fields we passed which was lovely because I've hardly heard her neigh since her virus, which affected her upper respiratory system, and I've been a bit worried that her vocal cords might not be working properly. Didn't attempt tinsel, somehow don't think she'd have appreciated it!
