My husband an I (hey I'm the Queen) went out riding on the Forest today. Nothing remarkable in that you might think but David is not a riding sort of person. He rode Petra Perkins (who I have always been a bit precious about) and she was very kind to him. I rode out a remedial horse I have got in and she was lovely to... so, working on Boxing Day I should get time and a half.

I went out with my sharer on Xmas day, all tinselled up. It went great until Beryl caught sight of the tinsel in her tail and paniced . She tanked off and amazingly Gydja decided to join in as well and we had a short canter up the road . They pulled up very quickly and snorted and pranced for 10 mins before calming down and plodding the rest of the way home. We took them out today for a longer ride and they were both fantastic. Here is a pic of us on Xmas day. You can't see it very well but my hat silk was given to me as a pressie that morning from my brother, it is green and red with a reindeer on the front! Our YO thought we were mad!

Taking advantage of the lack of commercial traffic - Khan and I went out for a 5 mile hack today, taking in a bit of normally busy road (not an A road or anything!) and he was a very good boy. Much more concerned about scary patches of new tarmac and cows lurking in hedges than the few vehicles! The weather was gray and overcast, which was a shame as usually the views are great, but we had a great time. Looking forward to New Year and introducing him to a few more new bits of road. Shame there isn't any decent off-road riding here in winter - fields too soft A good day!
