>:(Approximately 12 weeks ago my daughter came in saying there was a small kitten outside that didnt look very well. We went outside to look for it but it had disappeared and never saw it again until today when some children came to my door with it.
It came out when talking to them that my next door neighbour was looking after it for her neighbour while they were on holiday. This neighbour leaves the house at 5 - 5.30a.m. in the morning and doesnt get back till after 2.30p.m.
The kitten had brown mucus coming from its eyes, staining all down its front and on its front legs and was pityfully thin and I thought it was approx 12/13 weeks max.
I fed it, but it didnt seem able to eat. It was purring profusely and very affectionate. The thought crossed my mind that it had either feline aids or leukemia as I have seen this before.
I had an appointment so left it in the garden with access to the rabbit hutch as I have a dog. When I came back it had disappeared.
My neighbour called me and told me that she had taken the kitten to the vets this p.m. as she was concerned about it. The vet examined it and said it was at least 9/10 months old! It had a very bad infestation of fleas and she thought worms and worst of all a chicken bone was lodged in the roof of its mouth that had gone gangerous and in her opinion had been there for many weeks, which would tie in with my daughter seeing it ages ago. It was given flea treatment, the bone was removed luckily without anaesthetic and had an antibiotic injection along with another injection.
The owner was asked by my neighbour to take it to the vets before her holiday but said she didnt have time!
I am so upset that we didnt find it when we looked for it weeks ago and so bl**dy mad with the owners who are on a £1500 holiday sunning themselves while this poor animal suffers.
The vet also thinks she may be pregnant as well. I really feel like taking this kitten and running away with her. We are moving shortly to a lovely farmhouse right out in the country so it could easily be arranged. My head tells me I cant do this but my heart says I should. Sorry for rant, but feel like Victor Meldrew, have been going round saying "I cant believe it", all afternoon.
