You must rescue this poor cat, poor little thing. I have three cats after munch was left in a cardboard box outside my friends pet shop in a storm, shes a lovely cat very timid though I didnt have to cat nab her but would have no hesitation if i needed to.

could I ask why the vet hasnt contacted the RSPCA ? It IS neglect and someone IS responsible. I suspect that the owner will happily hand over the cat rather than face the RSPCA investigating them and the neighbour will happily pass the buck than get involved in admitting thier part.

it wouldn't be the first time a cat has dissappeared - it happens - not that I'm advocating it you understand ;-) emw x

definately snatch the Kitty. They don't want it anyway. You can always pretend it must have sneaked into your removal van.

It obviously needs a better home, You need to remove it or report it (not that reporting it will do any good of course)
personally if i was moving it would leave with me (sneakily of course)

Take it take it take it. Just be very careful how you do it - don't want you ending up in any awkwared situations (am imagining you packing up the house with cat clearly visible poking out of a crate or something equally daft). The thing with cats is, as lovelylace says, they are thoroughly independent and will up sticks and find a new home if not happy. Years ago one such cat did this to us, we had cats, catflaps and catfood and there wasn't an awful lot we could do about it (apart from feed and fuss him loads - ssshh) and his owners got really annoyed and went to a solicitor about it! Naturally it came to nothing because, it's a cat, it will live where it pleases. Please take the kit...please...we won't tell... ;-)

My nieghbours cat is in the process of moving in to my house! shes not mistreeted or even very thin, just always seems to be asleep on my sofa! I think its because we have a cat flap but no resident cat, she thinks shes filling the hole......

Not been able to do anything yet as havent even seen it. I know owners are back, came back Mond. We have a few weeks here yet so will keep our eyes peeled for her. We are not moving too far away so if not seen before we leave will keep coming back every now and then and look for her. Will post when I have further news. Thanks for asking peaches just sorry I cant give better news right now.

Quick update on kitten. Have just spoken to neighbour (she works shifts) and kitten doing extremly well, she has told owner what happened and also offered to take kitten, although owner not too keen at present. She has put on weight, no runny eyes, nose or discharge from mouth and neighbour has wormed her. Will still keep an eye out and take opportunity should it arise. Feel quite relieved as at least she seems to be doing quite well at the moment.
