Hey RosieRocks! Where are you in Bude, where do you keep your horse? I love Bude and have just got back from a weeks holiday there with my teenage son and mad dog - we stay at a flat overlooking Crooklets. I haven't ridden there in years though, we tried Maer Stables once and Red Post (they have moved though can't remember where). Can you recommend any good riding stables for future holiday riding?

Hi Esme Hope you don't mind the answer from me. Red post stables no longer exists they did move to a place called Week St Mary but went bust many yrs ago. Maer stables are still going strong. There is a treaking stables called Gooseham riding stables nr Morewenstow which is in the direction of Bideford when on the A39 not many miles from Bude at all. Sue

Hi Sue, thanks for your reply I don't mind at all! What a shame about the Red Post/Week St. Mary place I seem to remember the person who ran it was very nice to us - although there was an incident with a thoroughbred I still have bad thoughts of!! We saw the Maer Stables lot trekking across the cliffs a couple of times when we were there last, the horses and ponies looked well enough but sadly all the riders looked bored and miserable. Are the Gooseham stables to be recommended or haven't you ridden at any of them? Are you in Bude too or nearby?
