Emma - it's a Sportendurance ride (think the website is http://www.sportendurance.co.uk) so has to be entered in advance. Should be a nice ride, from where it starts I think you'll get some stony tracks but also some good ones. And it's very quiet out that way. 12.5 miles, starting from The Bog (now that's encouraging!!).

Hi everyone - have only just noticed this thread on the new-style DG! We love our rides and only wish we could do more but we have a problem with the "L" word - yes, that's right - loading!! For no apparent reason, Kofi has been very naughty this year and will only go in beside another horse so that has held us a back a bit.
However, we're off to do 32k along a beach in south West Scotland on Sunday 24th Sept - easily reached at the far end of the A75 if there are any of you in the North of England. We are also putting on a 16k, 24k and 48k. Hope the weather is not too bad, it's been horrible this week.
For anyone starting out just remember "to complete is to win". I think my top tip is to always take a drink with you and to check that your horse is also drinking enough before and after, also during if it's a very hot day.

Emma - I would think 5 - 6 mph would be about right. I'm not sure as I'm not a SE member, but the EGB PRs are normally 5mph minimum speed. That's one reason Ash probably isn't going - can't see her doing 5mph anywhere even in her winter woolies ;D She'd try to fly round at about 15 mph - and would probably manage it, too.

Thanks carol, but they are for a friend, she rode in mine which are the caged type and now she wants some the same, I thought I had seen them at a very reasonable price on a site which was called something like bewithyourhorse.com, but now can't find it.

We will be doing a few hunt rides over the winter and a bit of hunting too but then its down to Endurance comps in earnest ;D

Would love to try it. Our two love pleasure rides and can keep going all day, at a steady but rapid lick. How do we get in at the low level stuff.
PS Highland and Welshxtb [turbo charged carrot! ]

Birch - what a good description of that particular mix - mines TBXWelsh as well! Although now we have reached 9 he is a little better! Great fun though! I am lucky in that I have friends that do Endurance so keep me up to date with what's going on locally, there are a couple of websites mentioned on here I think though.
