;Dhi,
Yes Oranges we did ride at Oxnam together- just read your post above.
I live in Guidepost, South Northumberland on a farm that feels like it has literally been dropped into the middle of a housing estate and a bad one at that.
I am a member and newsletter editor of EGB Northumberland.
I must of done endurance now for over 15yrs and still feel a novice - you never stop learning and new techno keeps popping up on the scence.
I started out on my late Welsh cob doing local hunt rides. He loved it so our first BERA ride was at Callaly Castle. he loved it and we got our BBQ. we got to intermediate level before arthritis took him away.
I now have a 7yr old anglo arab mare. I am on a huge learning curve with her, i.e don't touch her sides or your in Scotland as some fellow riders experianced at Raby ( i was trying to slow down chaps!). we have upgraded to interdediate by fast tracking and only have 2 30 mile and 1 40 mile ride to qualify for advanced.
she is ridden barefoot and bitless. i have no problems ridding barefooted though i do check out the routes first. Serc rides are lovely especially Oxnam - i cantered 90% of that ride - all stubble feilds. she is best on grass but i look at route and vary speed acording to underfoot conditions. i have to admit, i don't like Keilder forest, too stoney.
I would recommed endurance to any one. it is sooo friendly. you can turn up in a battered shogun and OLD trailer, park beside a £10,000 box and in 5 mins be best friends and the thing i love, no one looks down their snooty nose at you. ( i have been in riding clubs where if you didn't win they weren't intrested in you or you didn't have a £5,000 horse)
I hope to see you all out in March! ;D ;D ;D
