aargh so I am not alone with the early starts. I get up at 5.15 so a bit later than you. You know these dark mornings are really rubbish arnt they. I desperately need to ride in the week and it just seems so dark I cant get a ride in before work. Mind you sound like your up to your eyeballs. If you need any wedding advice let me know - if I can help that is lol Our day was lovely and I did get my own way and was mucking out early on the wedding day much to the horror of my now husband who thought it was one day the horses should be dealt with by someone else but to be honest it was the best thing I could have done it really calmed me down.

MC, that won't be pure MagOx - pure MagOx cost around that much per kilo, and you can't get it from Countrywide. It might be feed grade CalMag but few Countrywide's stock it, the ones round here can't even order it.

Oh thank you for that Jackie. Perhaps you can comment further, the bag is white and is called calcined magnesite. It is used for sheep and other cattle as apparently they are commonly low in it. Any comments you have on the difference would be fab.

MC any help will be greatfully received, I have had my own way in that we are having reception in a village hall rather than some dodgy hotel, much to mothers horror!!! I am very sad in that I have planned wedding date around foal and when they come in!!!
Favours are an issue what to give

The most important thing I can say is get used to upsetting people - you wont intent to but inevitably you will. Stick to your guns, its yours and your partners day and you must have it the way you want it, its one of the few times in your life (in my opinion) you dont have to compromise! We upset a few people completely unintentionally and to be honest I found it a bit of a cheek for other people to try and make you have things you didnt want. The most important people there are you and your other half, its your day and absolutely everyone else is a guest! We had an issue with favours as well. My oh wanted sugared almonds but I didnt think many people like them so we compromised and had the almonds as well as jelly babies!!! I had a fantastic photographer from creative photography in sutton coldfield. The pictures are amazing and he was just the nicest man you have ever met. We didnt go for the hotel type of wedding either, we got married at st kenelms in romsley then to our favourite restaurant who did a special meal for us and closed the rest of the restaurant off then to our local conservative club that had just been redecorated and does fantastic buffets. Another tip, buy some party feet, mine were life savers!!! How exciting, so what colour theme are you having, are you having cars etc? oh do tell.

Yes MC Calcined magnesite is what we commonly call CalMag, not a pure grade magnesium oxide. It is about 85% magnesium oxide and about 50% magnesium. The other 15% varies according to the particular ore source, but consists of various impurities.
It's absorption rate varies according to the fineness of the particles I am told, and I have only found one brand in the UK I am moderately happy with, the rest contain too much coarse material IMO.
It does a job of work, but I have searched high and low to find a pure magnesium oxide that is both a consistant fine powder, and palatable. That I now have, a DC grade used to make human tablets, and it is 98% pure. I feel this is a preferable product to use for horses sick with metabolic syndrome etc, or for constant longterm use, and it works out at 15-30p a day for a horse, so still won't break the bank.

Glad to see you are in touch with Jackie she will set you right on the magnesium. If you still need a calmer I can recommend So-Kalm by Equine America (they make Cortaflex) it's not cheap but boy has it worked on our Beckham!

I have quite a nervous mare when leaving to go out on her own, was just wondering if the pure magnesium oxide would help her? Not sure if we have a countrywide store near me, Im in Leicestershire.

OOh MC lets see some piccies. I have already said to everyone, our day not yours and it seems to have helped! My colours...well my dress is satin off white/ivory with gold embroidery on the bodice, and down the back every six inches it has a heart embroidered, so we are having a heart theme. As such we have bought loads of love hearts that say just married on for favours and for the women we are having wooden hearts made with the names carved into them, not sure about the men. The colours will be gold and lavendar, my two big bridesmaids will be in lavendar and the two little ones are going to wear gold. Andy's having a lavendar waistcoat and the groomsmen are also having a similar colour. I am having lavendar in the flowers at the church and also in my bouquet so that it smells nice I must get some party feet then, i always get sore feet when I do too much dancing!!

Sorry Gem for not replying, we have had a terrible week! My now husband had a one tonne steel girder fall on him and crush part of his leg. He has spent a week in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where they have pinned and plated his leg back together. Your colours sound fantastic, my theme was gold and I had a heart theme going as well so snap there. You obviously have good taste! Have the absolute time of your life it will be fantastic

Oh thank you Gem thats really kind of you. He is a bit down but otherewise we are told he has been lucky. He cant put any weight on his leg for 3 months to allow the bones to start joining. He had a bone graft as well and they said altogether the operation went well but its just a real kick in the stomach. I am having to play nurse at the moment as he came back home last night but thats ok, keep him fed and watered and he seems relatively content lol. No really, he is relatively comfortable as has a huge back of tablets to get through so that should keep him happy hopefully. Guess we should be thankful for what we have hey, certainly made us stop and think.

My last post read like I was a foregin pupil or something sorry, my brain thinks faster than I can write!!
He does sound really lucky, it kind of puts things into perspective doesn't it? I felt that after Andy's pub was held up, how lucky I am to have him. Funny really we've been together 6 years and I adore him more now than I ever have, I think the wedding is making me soppy!!
I now have my veil which is also my something borrowed off a girl who I went to nursery with, need a hoop and shoes underware and jewlery. What the hell do I wear thats blue? and not sure about the something old either?!

if your having a garter you a lot of them have a little blue in them! As for the something old you could pop something in your purse like an old piece of jewellery. I put my deceased nan's engagement ring in my little bag. Oh wow you sound like you have had your bad luck too. I wouldnt say you are soppy getting married is the ultimate committment of showing your love for each other just because you have been together for as long as you have doesnt mean the more your together the more you cant love each other. Sounds to me you have rock solid relationship there and as you say sometimes bad experiences make us take a reality check and we realise have lucky we are.
