A quick upddate for those of you who followed Seamus's developments with Canker.
We have just completed our 3rd week of Prednisolone at a dose of 500mg per day. We are going to continue with this dose for a further two weeks and then reduce to 250mg. The vet visited again today and we are really pleased with his progress. The horn tissue seems to be growing back more normally. We tub his feet every other day in a solution of Virkon. The vet said I can ride him now too - although keep him barefoot still.
Things are definately looking more positive - although having said that - at the current time - the vet does not think they may be a time when we will be able to withdraw the Prednisolone completely - but administer say 75mgs every other day.

Oh I'm so glad for you, that's great news. Great that the vet recognises he needs to be kept unshod, so you can treat the infections properly. When you're at a point that you're comfy with, can you show us what the sole looks like now things are heading back in the right direction?
Gosh, I bet you're relieved.

Just found the original thread and read right through without realising how out of date I was, now found the update. Glad you and Seamus had found a light at the end of your dreadful tunnel, how is it going now?
