Can anyone recommend any that won't break the bank please?
Edit; are Ruggles any good?

Ruggles have just brought a new 1200 denier no fill rug. I love Ruggles rugs, good design and not expensive. However, I have come to the conclusion that a very light fill (100 g) is better than no fill, as it helps keep a pocket of air between horse and outer, sort of like a double skin tent. This means that when its really wet the soaked rug doesn't sit on the horse and soak through.
My two both have Ruggles 100g rugs, and have been cosy all winter, but not too hot on warmer wet days.

I have one Ruggles no fill turnout combo rug which I do like. Haven't used it that much as the horse it is for only wears rugs in emergency type weather LOL, he did wear it a couple of weeks ago for a day when we had heavy rain and he only has his summer coat so he got cold. He was fine with the rug on and it didn't leak.

Thanks My trusty Weatherbeeta has leaked badly today, though we have had about 20 hours of rain...

I'm not sure about no-fills - are they supposed to be waterproof only up to a certain amount of wetting?? My friend had a Weatherbeeta on her boy and that leaked too, and my Shires one is rubbish.

I've got a light shires tempest rug, it was ripped in the first day but I repaired and it lasted nearly a year

I bought a 'Maxwell Mill' one off ebay for my companion pony. It is 1000 denier - no fill AND so far - has proved completely waterproof. I'm too much of a computer numpty to do a link - but the seller is 'bargainrugsonline247' It seems to be one of the cheapest and best quality rugs I've ever bought!

Never liked no-fill rugs as they can make the horse cold as they don't allow a layer of air in the fur as insulation and can be colder than no rug at all, they can also get condensation on the under surface and make the horse wet.
We got some good 100g rugs from Derby House recently on offer for ridiculous money.

Thanks zack&buffysmum - I've not come across that site before!
Specialized, yes I know what you mean... but I only have a 70g or no-fills, and I think 70g or even a 40g would make her way too hot... I so wish I was allowed a shelter in the field.

Shan, 2 of mine have been using Gallop no-fill rugs for the past year with no problems, they are fairly cheap. They fit well too.

Thanks Bev - how do they stand up to prolonged showers?

I have a no full amigo which I love and a no full weather beta which does the job.
I like my no fills, but my boy is brought in at night. I'm not sure they are robust enough to be out 24/7 as we get small leakage at the neck when the weather is dreadful but as he's not out 24/7 its totally manageable.
