I like Rambo, but we might be getting into rug-mortgage territory for me here, lol! ;D

Thanks Bev - how do they stand up to prolonged showers? Fine so far, if heavy rain all day then sometimes their shoulders get a bit wet but I think that's because it blows in the small gap at bottom of neck by their chest eventually (they have combo's on).

The best light weight turn out are the Horseware Amigo bravo 12 and the Maxwell Mill lightweight. The Maxwell Mill has a cotton lining ,, so will stop the horse sweating. The only downside is no Velcro on the chest. The Amigo bravo 12 doesn't have a wither pad, I sewed a bit of shower puff in into the pony who gets rug sores without one. It has a hole in the middle so there is no pressure on her withers. (wetherbeeta leak the worst. They used to be water proof. Ruggles light weights leak badly. Premier equine leak after a few months of use. Gallop can take some rain, but not torrential. Amigo 600 ds can take light rain, but leak in heavy. Shires usedto be waterproof for a couple of years, but they leak now too. Derby house 600d used to be water proof ,not tried the 1200d. The elite one seems to be water proof 1680 d. Rhinegold can take lighter rain, but leak in heavy same with Funnel . Oympian don't leak, but they don't make them anymore. For a bit of filling the Premier equine 70g is very waterproof , and you can add necks and liners. You can get liners and necks for the Amigo bravo 12 too, but it can come through a bit in torrential rain .Seems a layer underneath makes it a little less water proof. That also happened when the Maxwell Mill had a fleece underneath, it leaked a little, but not on it's own . We got the shires 100g for the times when it's too hot for a medium weight , but too cold for a lightweight. The Highlander fits the ponies with little legs better , and you can get necks for those. The Tempest is a standard neck , no attachments. Booth are waterproof. The Shires Maxiflow is a good fly/rain rug, treat it as outdoor washing wise though, or it looses it's waterproofness. Masta Fly/rain rugs were more water proof after wash and reproof. The Amigo Aussie all rounder is good for a fly/ shower rug. Treat that as a waterproof rug when washing too.
