You can go to www.emagine.org to see larger sections of OS maps. Just go to "Routes and REgions", select a random route so the map pops up. You can navigate around the map to the area you want (drag it around). Then select "OS map" from the map type menu and voila. BTW, has anyone volunteered for EMAGIN to put routes up there? I wonder if it might be a worthwhile effort. There are only a handful on there so far.

www.wbra.co.uk/ for Worcestershire. Look under Where to Ride. Members have access to private parking near good bridleway networks and they also do escorted rides so people get to know the routes. Oh, and do bridleway clearances.

For creating new riding routes look under TROT - toll ride off-road trust, a charity that helps local riders negotiate with farmers for horses only routes for payment. www.tollrides.org.ukOr the Trails Trust, which has opened up 80 new bridlepaths/multi-user routes in Somerset and surrounds.

Where in Yorkshire are you bertie? I'm in selby and there is quite a bit of off road riding and a few river banks we can get on. We also have 3 woods, two with steep hills and the biggest wood is flat with some amazing logs (fallen down trees lol) to jump.

We joined our nearest Bridleways group and went along to a few of their meetings and picked their brains. The BHS are actually really helpful on this side of things so worth going to their website and contacting the bridleways person. Then we set up our own committee, which was actually the five of us who are the co-op at Springfield and we contacted the BHS to get approval for us to become a Bridleways group. We did this as if you are a BHS Bridleways group, you automatically get the benefit of their insurance for any activities that you might want to do. If you have a good look at the Northcheshire riders site it gives you lots of pointers as to how you get started. My friend Laureen also set up the first Toll Ride in the North West of England, which is still going strong, and there is a page on the site as to how she went about that too. Best of luck, it's great fun, but am not going to pretend that it isn't hard work at times!
