North East Wales, a foot of snow and brilliant sunshine. EP cancelled today, he can't get off Anglesey as he's snowed in (Anglesey never has snow!) Roads have been cleared and gritted, and lanes better than yesterday. Conditions worse in South Wales so my grand children tell me and my son can't get to work from Forest of Dean.

South Somerset, 3-4'' snow. Main roads are fine (though one lane only in some cases), side roads not so good - I was fine but 2wd cars are struggling. Apparently up on the Blackdown Hills (where my horse is) is much deeper - fingers crossed for the drive this evening.

Malvern, Worcestershire Main roads average, no sign of grit Less used 'main roads' and side roads are terrible! still white All schools closed, my college (Hartpury, Gloucs is closed for rest of week) it is possible to get places if really really need to. Co-op still waiting for its delivery of milk from last night, although Lidl down the road had some. Keeps snowing on and off. Are you able to contact the people on the course? and see if they are willing to make it and then decide on how many can attend etc ?

Beds/Herts about 4 inches of snow. Small roads passable in the Land Cruiser but wouldn't want to be in a car.

Shropshire - main (gritted) roads are open ditto motorways according to local radio. We have less than an inch of snow, but it is on top of ice where the gritters didn't get to. I think it is localised even within the county. North Shropshire might only have an inch of snow..... South Shropshire seems to have a bit (lot!) more! I think there was 5 or 6" at the yard this morning (there was certainly that much on the field but seemed a bit less on the roads), although all the roads were fairly clear including the lanes. Main roads seem OK now, too.

Malvern, Worcestershire Main roads average, no sign of grit I don't think they have heard of grit in the North of Scotland!!! Prob have the 'wrong' kind!! or ran out long ago!! would be just about typical of this country. i know on news they were saying about some areas that they had already used a years worth of grit over last 1-2weeks !

We had a few inches last night in mid-Cornwall. As with some places elsewhere, the main roads are passable but the side roads can be tricky.
It also depends on elevation — the moors are quite deeply covered, I believe, whereas there is frost and ice nearer the coast or at lower levels.

Our council has enough grit to last all winter.... because they're not putting any on the bliddy roads! Of course it will last well if they keep it in storage
