Cheers Jen, that's great matey. I've done something like this before, so I'd cost it carefully, and if not enough tickets sold I'd cancel. It's a bit late to do an Xmassy one, I know that sounds daft but the good venues are booked. I can probably get a discount on this place because I'm an ex-KCC employee. If we have too many boogies then we will surely run short of people to come? But if anyone wants a New Forest one then don't mind me, just do one Maidstone is indeed in Kent, the venue is walking distance from the train station, and the venue has B+B available on-site because it's a training centre, so I thought those things might help people who needed to travel a little bit further. Caustic and I drove 5 hours to get to the Barn Boogie, and with the help of the AA it took us nearly 12 hours to get back! I had to pay someone to tend my horses Saturday night and Sunday morning, I know it's not always straightforward, but just let me know if you think you can come. One big last blast for the EMW fund raising year...!

Like Hannah, Maidstone is a LONG way from West Somerset and I would find it hard to make the trip but the New Forest - manageable!

Come on guys - Its ok saying new forest but how many could actually make it there?! Kas is suggesting somewhere with excellent facilities and that she may be able to get reasonably priced, It will mean about 31/2 hrs travel at least for me but its a one off, I have plenty of time to organise someone to look after the horses ad the house and its for a good cause!!

Sounds good to me.
£20-£25 a ticket sounds reasonable.

Well, you know, no pressure... Seriously, I think easiest to do what Jen did, which is set the date and the venue and just go for it. If I don't get enough people then it won't happen. Jen's bash was excellent, and a great way for DG'ers to meet and have some fun. This one will be different in style, but they're all in a good cause. I can't really organise one in the New Forest, but I can do one in Kent where I know lots of venues and have contacts. There is a slight advantage in this area - density of population. There are a lot of people round our way, so I can probably sell tickets to friends and family of DG'ers as well. Plus, the transport links are excellent, A2, M20 or train - easy. So far I'm thinking 50 tickets at £20 each - that's £1,000! That will easily pay for venue hire and some grub, and lots left for EMW. I think I can get a free disco through the community centre where I work, and maybe a live band to play for about half an hour. I'll sort it all out and put details up when I've got the costings and everything done.

Question...how far is Maidstone in relation to Deal? (Kent) if not too far , i'd consider coming.... my sister lives in Deal and i could kill two birds with one stone, so to speak... Again it would depend on when my op is...not had yet...
Maybe us Scotties could organise something North o the border.....?

Dover to Maidstone is 45 mins (tried it for a job interview recently!) so Deal-Maidstone is probably 1hr, or just over.

Count me in too! ;D I don't think £25 is unreasonable for an evening's entertainment either and the venue sounds ideal. March is fine for me and gives me plenty of time to organise animals but maybe a month later would make it easier for others. If their horses are out, they wouldn't be so reliant on other people? But then I guess you'll be busy with the clinics? Hmmm I've got relatives in Kent though. I'll have to keep the boogie a secret or get roped into a visit.
