I know and trust Trevor (he was my EP before we left for France) and would unreservedly recommend him. He was good then, he's undoubtedly even better now! You may have trouble getting an appointment though - I imagine he's pretty busy, especially since he gained instructor status. I can't comment on Debbie as I don't know her but I do know the UK EPs undertake good CPD and don't limit themselves solely (excuse the pun!) to KC's teaching.

hi, im so sorry your having to go through all of this, i wouldn't shoes either im afraid, boots lots of pads etc, im not going to go on about it, except to say so your research ,from Dr bowker and Dr hilary Clayton, the forces/ricochet effect of shoeing isn't what poor feet need, it can cause pain, im sure you will do what you see fit and what YOU believe in, good luck ,

What I know with Trevor and a great recommendation is keeps up all his personal development training on regular basis not qualified and nothing more.. hense why he has also now became a teacher as well. I cant speak for Helen..and that isnt in a bad way I just simply do not know of her or heard of her. Trevor would be for me and if it was my horse I would be more then happy to have him. He did also help me when I did a course with KC.. he was so kind and helpful.. If you consider he teaches courses to folks such as you you would learn a lot from him about the foot and what it needs to function.

Thanks Susan. Do you know if he knows about low grade laminitis? Its just that someone has suggested my horse may have that and I would like someone to be able to tell me I asked the vet re LGL and I am not convinced she knew what I was talking about. I think she thought I meant laminitis.

Helen Thompson does Kite and Harley and she is absolutely amazing. She is brilliant with the horses, is totally passionate and knowledgeable about her work and is a lovely person Kite can be a tricky character at times and Helen has been calm with him throughout - resulting in him now falling asleep when he has his feet done.

Helen is our trimmer - we have been fortunate enough to have worked with Helen for 3 years, and I can wholeheartedly recommend her. She 'rescued' my written off mare - who was diagnosed DJD of coffin joints, only to go in straight lines on soft ground but ideally retired - 6 months later she was winning (prelim) dressage, and the next year doing 15+ miles endurance training rides. she saved us from a very nasty infection in the heel last year that my vet missed.
put it this way, our local remedial farrier saw her working, and was so impressed he wants to train to do HPT, and has recommended Helen to people. and as Jenny says, she is lovely with it, and great with horses.

Hi Melissa
Although I haven't seen either Trevor or Helen's work (I live in Yorkshire) there will be no doubt whatsoever that their training, development and work they have done and continue to do will cover, in debth, Low Grade Laminitis....
It's probably the biggest problem a BF trimmer has to try to overcome with owners in the UK!!!
Hope this helps

You won't be disappointed Melissa. As for LGL, just mention Minnie and LGL will come flooding back to Trevor!!!! He's one of the good guys and you can trust him, he helped me through some very interesting times with Minnie and was supportive to the end (back to shoes), even with the decision to shoe her. His commitment to helping my horse went above and beyond.
