paddywak i am not going to comment on jumping as i don,t do it so haven,t got a clue one bit of advise about the head tossing and evasiveness when you use the rein i had this with a new horse and it was the gag action what he didn,t like he did exactley the same as your horse the open mouth and head tossing, he also was very strong in the gag but i think it was due to him running way from the gag not being strong, he is now in an eggbutt snaffle and is a completly different horse no more open mouth or the head tossing (and i only squeeze the outside rein) i still have him in a martingale as he does need it, but maybe try her in something a bit milder and you might be surprised with the results lovely pone by the way

Hi, not sure whether to get involved in this or not; I'm no way near as experienced as many of the other people here...but, I have a horse that did exactly the same thing in the gag and martingale that she came in. Took it all off, stopped jumping for a few months, and came back in a happy mouth snaffle with a horse that doesn't run along in a banana shape as she used to, but literally lopes up to jumps. A really nice change for all concerned! Maybe you could find a little more time and not have to rish everthing? I don't know your circumstances though...She looks like a lovely pony. Anyway, I do hope you all have a nice Christmas, i hate it and can't wait until it's over!

re the Machine comment, I've heard this many times and have no problem with it in terms of the horse is a good jumper, knows his job well etc.
However, I guess I would love to have seen a little softness in both the video and then the replies? Surely you can have a pony jumping with softness? We all too often see a LIGHT horse (or what looks to be light) but not a SOFT horse and this is something I wish we could all aim for...especially in retraining a horse who doesn't have that in it's life just yet, doesn't mean we can't offer it!
Merry Christmas peeps
