Inks was £1k 10 years ago and he was 10, which was rather a large price for him considering his hidden 'problems' as well as his obvious ones. But Kate fell in love with him and mummy had to buy him for me! ;D Leroy was gifted to me at 18months, i found him on here from LovelyLace, and hes such a dude, love him lots. Mivonne was £500 and 11 from a rather bad reputationed dealer who was about to sell him for meat. He had jumped 1.60 in holland but had gone sour because he'd been beaten and overjumped. He is now out jumping Foxhunters with his new owners. Dan was £2500 at 4 from the same dealer as Mivonne. Sold him on to do dressage and hes now showing at Medium. ETA my first couple of ponies: Nikki was £900 9 year old b!tch, lol. Mum bought her as a present and she was a serious killing machine. Bow was £200. Bought from London at 5. Taught me how to hang on but my god was fast and scopey. He was only 12.2hh and I'd happily kick on upto a 1.05 fence. I was 5-6. Harmony was my first 'pony'. 8 hand shetland who was dumped in our yard. 3 year old and i remember riding her around with baling twine.

My big Bruno (clydesdale) I got 4 and 1/2 years ago for £2300. Quite overpriced as they weren't sure of his age (think he's about 17 now), he was extremely headshy, difficult to ride, and has problems in his hips where he's been thrashed about so much. He's missing teeth at the front and has scarring on his chest. We think he was dumped somewhere by gypsies then picked up by someone and sold at a sale, where our old YO bought him. Cosi is a very highly bred connemara, who was given to me last year as a 13year old, unbroken, unhandleable stallion. He's still difficult to ride but he's such an incredible pony. He has a massive jump and will jump anything that's put in front of him and loves it. We could go a long way show jumping together (unfortunately no transport available). This is the first time I rode him... That saddle was horrible! It was so hard to sit in, but it was the only one we could find to fit him at the time. It's a 150yr old pig leather show saddle. And how I hated it! And a recent one from the beach (with a much nicer saddle!) that I like: Prices aren't important though... my neddies are worth everything to me

ooohhh i love the last piccy have you framed it? gorgeous!! and what a transformation nic b you must be so proud. still hurts to see what some horses go through and put up with when they are such big animals that if they threw their weight around the wouldnt have to. but they still put up and shut up. all in the good nature of the horse, that people take for granted! xx

Thanks peaches. I can't take any credit for Stanleys transformation tho - he was the result of a lot of tlc and hard work of a couple of friends of mine. I took him on as a strapping 3 year old. I keep telling them that they over did the milk pellets as at 8yrs old, 17hh and the best part of a tonne I swear he's still growing!

Oooh Indi looks fab! Remember seeing him on Project Horses! So glad he went to such a great home!
Re what it costs to buy - pales into total insignificance compared to what it costs to keep them! My cheapest boy (£700) has cost me the price of a seriously expensive horse in vets bills, therapists, etc. etc. Worth every penny and more though!

Rocco cost me £1800 as a 5 year old - lovely nature, well brought on, excellent Crabbet bloodlines and passed a 5 star vet, so bargain I thought. Since then he's had just about every ailment going and has sarcoids, one scabby leg and one wonky leg. Still, on the bright side he's fit and rideable, stunningly beautiful, a lovely "person" and I love him to bits.

Dunno how to add pics but i paid £10 for my 4yr old 13h gelding (after i had trained him) because he had a lot of problems. I paid £1 for my 15h gelding and 4000 for the coloured in the pics below! bit of a difference in prices!
