Hi Trudee,
Unless your horse came from Belgium what you received was the very old system of a vet Certificate (Certificat Sanitaire International Pour le Transit des Animaux de Compagne) and which is now about 5 years out of date. If your horse has a chip then this number would be on his Haras National Papers together with a bar code.
If you have no passport then it would appear your horse was brought into this country illegally under another horse's passport which was retained by the transporter.

trudee i also got some paper work with bailey but assumed this was just for his micro chip although there is a pink piece of paper in it the bundle is 4 pages long all joined at the top with a tear away strip is does also have a vets stamp on but i think this is the vet that did the chip.the first page is titled FORMULAIRE DE SIGNALEMENT

i did not recieve and more paperwork, just one pink slip titled attestation provisoire d'identification cheval. There is a vet stamp with a sticker saying tetapur and a date of 17/01/2009. I didnt read this before as just noted the date on the sticker, but i didnt reserve him till beginning of march. so this isnt a sticker for a vet check. This is purely a chipping form. it too had barcodes on it.
i was told the horses recieve a basic vet check before going on the lorry, while still at the farm. heart lungs and temperature. This is all included in the price. But i didnt recieve any other paperwork than that pink form.. Should we have got something else with it.

Shelley 2.....
The papers you are describing is what gets sent off to the Haras Nationaux for registering the horse. There should:
a blue page ( person who microchips takes this) a pink page (at the bottom its says feuillet destine au laboratoire) a yellow one (Laboratory) a white one (which should have SIRE at bottom) gets sent off to the Haras for registering your horse...there is a fee which (as last year) was 40 euros but is free only if the horse is a Cheval de Trait(heavy horse). If this page is still in your possesion your horse is not yet registered, only microchipped (if as you say the bar code is on the pages). It is a requirement that all horses as from 01/01/08 are microchipped AND Identified with the Haras Nationaux. Health papers are not necessary to export to the UK as Lynette said. Tetapur I'm sure is a Tetanus brand name so sounds like he had a jab in January with next one due Jan '09....not sure why this was put on the pink form as there's no section to enter it on that sheet (unless it was just as a reminder). Any health check form usually has the word SANTE on it.

Also you should be able to see where the chip was done by post code on the vets stamp. My horse that I bought from dept 41 was chipped on the border of France/Spain as he was imported from Spain but had to be chipped to enter France (and the abattoir!).

Do you have the one with the sketch on it...like a card rather than thin paper?
