Sorry to come on here just to moan but I feel rubbish. After not being able to catch my horse yesterday for our Xmas hack (he has a new girlfriend, humph) I had a lovely hack today but right at the end he took off with me on our X country course and took me up a massive bank, then didn't make the drop on the other side, tried to jump it but landed and fell (on moi).
I know we're both really lucky (only got a v bruised hand which is just mighty inconvenient) but I feel poo! Have got a whole week off work and if this hand doesn't improve I won't be riding anywhere! Also worried he may have put something out (though he seems quite sound, just a bit shaken up) so will get back lady to him asap.
Why don't I just get my horse looked after at Xmas or have too hectic a schedul to ride, like everyone else I know??!

i haven't ridden yet this holidays, in fact, I haven't hacked out since i moved yards, i am too chicken at the momeNT! I haven't even managed to school without being carted off to her new field and friends!
at least you are relatively unscathed, thats the main thing!

Oh Cesca, poor you, in corporatespeak you'll have to learn to manage your expectations! See, if we all did that we'd all be really really happy, because we'd never be disappointed or aware of our/horses shortcomings - mind, we'd never do anything interesting either! At least you caught him!!!

LOL jill I have been on enough mgt training courses to hate that phrase! Your boss uses it to tell you he's not promoting you I find Yes thank goodness he didn't go far. This evening I was looking at him (he seems absolutely fine in himself) and have convinced myself his hips are wonky. On the positive side at least I managed to muck out! On the downside my bandage now smells of horse wee and so do I. Aw nimrod you sound like me, my lad has gone a bit wired since he moved, it's all just soo exciting! Though I stoopidly keep getting on. Still I won't tomorrow, this hand is worse than useless. Do you have any friends at your new yard yet? I have a few but they don't really hack. Do you know the area? Yes I am glad to be unscathed, we were very very lucky. Woke me up a bit to how I must sort out the braking problem.

Ahh, sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll soon be up on board again soon! If you are worried about your boy, get someone to lead him away from you on a flat surface at walk. See if the two sides of the pelvis move and drop the same amount - thats the best way to see a problem. Then do small circles on both reins and see if he crosses with the rear leg equally on both sides. Good luck!

annahindley bless you, thank you for that, I will do that tomorrow. He did take a horrible tumble, bless him. I only just got him all straightened out a little while ago! Still I don't suppose they stay straight for long...

Mad and brave! I always think we don't seem to manage to be straight ouselves, yet spend £100's trying to get our horses that way... I wish I'd spent as much money on my bod as I have on the horses, put it that way

Thanks supercooper! It feels a bit better, combination of red wine and nurofen! I am disappointed about today, had the pelham in and thought I had control, we only got run away with just as we arrived home, it was so unfortunate. Do blame myself though because I'm sure I could have steered him somewhere more sensible. KAS you are so right, I am all wonky after being hit by a car when crossing the road about 6 years ago. However lately I've been having Reiki to straighten myself up because I'm soo worried about making him uneven. It's working so far! Just need to stop somersaulting down banks and we might just both get straight.

Youch - hope you're feeling better soon:-( Don't forget to put some Arnica on any bruised patches, won't hurt horse either!

Oh dear, what a horrible experience for both of you. Glad neither of you appear to have come to any real harm. Hopefully your horse's back will be fine. Echo what Louise says about Arnica - might also be worthwhile taking it internally too for shock as well as the bruising. Your horse can take this internally as well I believe.

Thanks guys, where would I get arnica from? I am ridiculously stiff today, my left leg (that he landed on) is really stiff and so is my left shoulder. Would it help with that too? Just off to muck out that will loosen me up!
