Ahh, Jo does Schooner still lift his leg up when scratched in a certain spot?
Spencer gets called lots of different names depending on how good he is being, though my friend always called him spencerooney which has sort of stuck! He is very cuddly and loves nothing more than his ears being scratched. When I'm poo picking he follows me round and will position himself so he is always directly between me and the wheel barrow so I just have to fuss him instead. One of the liveries husbands in particularly keen on Spencer cuddles. She told me they were walking past his field together the other day chatting and she turned to look at hubby as he had gone quiet and he had dissapeard, then she saw he was stood cuddling Spencer in the field. Another livery has a little boy who will always go see Spencer and he lowers his head so he can hug it!
Digger is diggery doo or digsy wigsy and is quite shy and bashful, though he is getting better the more he gets to now us and does like a good cuddle now and again provided he trusts you.

How can you not cuddle your horse? When in the field Abbi comes running up to me and immediately gives me a big kiss on the lips. When she is using her stable (never been shut in, leave door open so she can go in and out when she likes) I usually skip out by kneeling down and picking all the poo up, she stands there and sucks the back on my neck whilst I skip it all out. She is 6 Years old, and the farrier has only been once to trim her feet (he said they were really good) the farrier was a bit apprehensive as she had never had her feet done, so I stood at the front of her, with just a head collar and lead rope on her. She just stood there whilst I talked to her and cuddled her, she had my throat in her mouth and was sucking on it, she was almost falling asleep, and never even moved as he did all her feet. Just goes to prove Natural Horsemanship works fine...and that we are perfectly in tune with each other, I totally trust her!!!! When I groom and bath her, she has never been tied up........we do have some fun at first, but she eventually will just stand there whilst I do it. My ickle baby....talk to her for hours, and loads and loads of kisses mwwwwwaaaahhhhh

Bailey had never been cuddled before I got him and was really not sure about much contact at all. Now he loves it thank goodness, it was one of the things I really missed when I lost my old pony. My excuse when I'm spotted by dog walkers and allotment holders is that as a youngster he needs to learn to be happy to be touched all over, not sure what I'll use when he gets older....

My big horse will just about tolerate me giving her a kiss, and will occassionally let me rub her ears and face if she's feeling particularly gracious. I love her dearly, but she generally gets called bum, or fat bags. My baby horse (well 16 month old pushing 15hher!) totally lets me cuddle him, and sometimes even comes over for one, oh joy! A horse that humours me! He gets called little bean (real name texas) and will probably always be called that.

Ginger is either Gingerbum, Pudding or Tubs.
He gets loads and loads of cuddles and kisses, and loves nothing more than his back, his armpits or his inner thighs being scratched! Yesterday I was showing new sharer all his favourite scratchy cuddle spots so he was in heaven with both of us pampering it!

Cuddles yes & no!! Murphy aka Squirty, gets cuddles when he will allow it lol, Kisses only happen rarely you have to of been an excellent owner to get a kiss off Squirty. Sam aka Lammy - Complete cuddle monster luvs cuddles or anyone talking revoltingly sweetly to him. Troy aka Roykey, Loves cuddles but only on my terms as he can get a bit bolshy so there's a time & a place for cuddles. But he does like to give loads of kisses especially when he's just had a drink & you havent realised.

Marigold isn't one for cuddles or kisses but LOVES having her bits, boobies and inner thighs scratched. Poo-picking can take a while if she's in the mood for scratches. The routine goes:
put on gloves, grab sack and walk to first poo. Pick it up. Take gloves off, scratch the chestnut bum that has been plonked in my face. Put gloves back on and walk to next poo. Continue until field is clear!
Nicknames: Mi-mi is the favourite at the moment. She also gets called Fatty, Smell, Mari etc.

I wouldn't cuddle H if you paid me, because I like my face attached to my head, but Rohan cuddles her all the time. SHe quite likes to be scratched, tho. SHe gets called quite a lot of things, including Moose, Moo moo, Moosey, Ponyface, Pudding, Shorty, and more often than not, That Bl00dy Pony JJ is called all sorts, including Bug, Snoggy Bog, Horseface, Pingles, Mir Pingy Ears and (equally often, usually by OH) Your Bl00dy Horse. When we got him it was practically impossible to get near his head without being headbutted or mugged, so we clicker trained him to put his head over our shoulders so we could get a headcollar on. This has sort of developed now so he uses snogging people as a way of asking for food (or anything else he wants). He's pretty cool--he really snuggles down and closes his eyes, which is extremely cute. It's rather less cute when he's just tried to flatten the physio or object to our EP, then he asks for a snog which translates as 'Please make them go away,' since it makes everyone else feel that he's personally objecting to THEM. Mind you, I suppose he is....

One of the best things in the world is hugging your horse! You couldn't get near Solsti when I first got him, but he's now the huggiest monster there is! He loves nothing better than to put his chin on the top of your head and for you to scratch his throat. You can also said 'show me your itchy bits' and he'll raise his back leg so you can scratch his thigh for him. It does rather get some strange looks from fellow horse owners on our yard! I call him Sollie Bean, Solsts, Sollie Bee or Chestnut Chops.
Yogi on the other hand is fond of a head butt or two and frankly from a 16.3h WB that hurts!!! However he's starting to let me in (have had him since May) and isn't adverse to an ear scratch or two. He's generally known as the Yoghurt Monster or Yoglet.

Hey don't you buy your horse because of it's cuddleability value? That's what a friend told me came high on the priority list - and she came with me to try Flynn - or Flynnie or Flynster!!
